  • Patent number: 9237086
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a routing distribution profile associated with a set of network resources disposed between a source endpoint and a destination endpoint. The set of network resources is within a session over Internet Protocol (SoIP) network. A distribution function is defined based on the routing distribution profile and based on a range of random number values. The distribution function is used to route via a network resource from the set of network resources a request to establish a session between the source endpoint and the destination endpoint.

  • Patent number: 8307418
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for an application layer firewall function including an integrated deep packet inspection function for providing early intrusion detection and intrusion prevention at an edge networking device are disclosed. According to one method, steps are performed at a session controller configured to operate at the border of a first network and a second network. The steps include receiving, at an intrusion protection system (IPS) module of the session controller interfacing with modules associated with layers 2 and above of a protocol stack of the session controller, information gathered by modules located at lower layers and associated with an intrusion attempt, vulnerability, or other security policy violation. In response to receiving the information, the IPS module provides at least one of a security policy and a rule to a module located at the most appropriate layer for securing the intrusion attempt, vulnerability, or other security policy violation.

  • Patent number: 8018918
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a first internet protocol (IP) packet having information associated with a dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) signal. The information of the first IP packet is configured based on a protocol associated with a first layer of a media over internet protocol (MoIP) network. The first IP packet is associated with a destination endpoint. The method also includes producing a second IP packet having information associated with the DTMF signal. The information of the second IP packet is configured based on a protocol associated with a second layer of the MoIP network and a DTMF conversion policy associated with the destination endpoint. The second layer is different than the first layer.

  • Patent number: 7983199
Abstract: A push-to-talk conference call is conducted over a packet switched network. Participants send a request and receive approval before being allowed to talk during the conference call. In one implementation, only one of the participants is enabled to transmit audio packets while other participants are only allowed to receive audio packets.
