  • Publication number: 20240312257
Abstract: An electronic device includes a biometric sensor. One or more processors of the electronic device or a pre-processor of the biometric sensor detect actuation of the biometric sensor. The one or more processors or the pre-processor can then determine whether at least one predefined condition is occurring concurrently with actuation of the biometric sensor. Where it is, the one or more processors or pre-processor can preclude the biometric sensor from processing received biometric data samples while the predefined condition is occurring. Illustrating by example, the one or more processors or pre-processor can discard the biometric data samples while the biometric sensor remains operational.

  • Publication number: 20240256642
Abstract: In aspects of device actions based on authenticated multi-touch gestures, a multi-touch gesture is received via a fingerprint sensor of a mobile device. The multi-touch gesture includes at least a first touch event and a second touch event. First authentication data is collected during the first touch event, and second authentication data is collected during the second touch event. Based on a successful authentication of at least one of the first authentication data or the second authentication data, a device action corresponding to the multi-touch gesture is initiated.

  • Patent number: 10956607
Abstract: A content access control system of a device determines whether the device is in possession of an owner of the device or another (secondary or non-owner) user and controls access to media content stored on the device based on the determination. The person in possession of the device at any given time is typically the person holding the device in his or her hand(s). If the device is in possession of the device owner, the system allows all media content on the device to be accessed. If the device is in possession of a secondary user, the system restricts access to media content on the device, such as by displaying only media content that has been captured within a threshold amount of time (e.g., the past hour) and that includes both the owner and the secondary user. Other restrictions can also be applied, such as disabling presentation of notifications.

  • Patent number: 10072939
Abstract: A method in an electronic device includes receiving, with an audio capture device such as a microphone, a request for navigational information. One or more processors of the electronic device then identify a transit mode. The one or more processors also detect, with one or more sensors, one or more contextual cues from an environment about the electronic device. The contextual cues can include a geo-location, transit mode, bearing, or other factors. The one or more processors then provide a navigation information response that is a function of the transit mode and the one or more contextual cues to a user interface of the electronic device.
