    Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of DNA sequences of plant origin encoding a polypeptide with phosphoribosyl-pyrophosphate synthetase 1 (E.C. 2.7.6.1) activity for the preparation of a test system for identifying phosphoribosyl-pyrophosphate synthetase 1 inhibitors. It was shown for the first time, using antisense technology, that phosphoribosyl-pyrophosphate synthetase 1 is a herbicidal [sic] target.
