  • Patent number: 6454067
Abstract: A method and device for a coupling (2) in a motor vehicle, transmission (1) are proposed in which the coupling is controlled and regulated during three operational states via a first regulating circuit (3). The regulated quantity corresponds to the actual value of a differential rotational speed of the coupling (2). The first state corresponds to a starting operation, the second state to the operation with constant ratio and the third state exists when a gear shift under load or a change of ratio from a first to a second ratio step of an automatic transmission (1) is initiated.

  • Publication number: 20020062706
Abstract: A transmission shifting device (1) is described which has one shifting element (3) rotatably guided upon an axle (2) and provided with at least one grooved path (4). The grooved path (4) engages at least one shift fork (5) which upon rotation of the shifting element (3) can be moved accordingly axially by the shape of the grooved path (4). Rotation of the shifting element (3) is possible via an electromotor (8) in operative connection with the shifting element (3) and having one stator (9) and one rotor (10). According to the invention, the stator (9) and the rotor (10) are situated at least partly between the shifting element (3) and the component part (2) without a housing of their own.

  • Patent number: 6366843
Abstract: A method for controlling an automatic transmission driven by an internal combustion engine is proposed in which a shift from a first to a second transmission ratio occurs as a pull upshift by a first clutch opening and a second clutch closing and electronic transmission control unit controls via electromagnetic valves the pressure curve of the first and of the second clutch during the shifting operation. The shifting operation is divided into different shifting phases, an engine intervention taking place within the gradient-adjustment (GE), the sliding (GL), the gradient-reduction (GA) and the closing (S) phases, an engine torque being reduced by an engine intervention factor (mdzegs) being transferred from the transmission control device to an engine control device of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6244402
Abstract: A power shift transmission (3) for motor vehicles in which instead of a hydrodynamic torque converter a controlled or regulated multiple disc clutch serves to assist starting. The loading of clutch is minimized by a fitted catch which prevents the motor vehicle from rolling in the opposite direction to the direction of travel intended by the gear selection. Catch can take the form of a mechanical catch, as sprag unit, or the form of an electronically adjusted catch which acts on one and/or more transmission brakes and/or clutches and/or into the service brake of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6217478
Abstract: A method for control of a positioning and/or angle control device without an absolute position sensor and the device itself is proposed as having at least one position label for a controllable part in a motor vehicle using an electronic circuit. The positioning and/or angle control device initialized after termination of the operation of the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6101438
Abstract: A process is proposed for automatically coordinating the filling and feeding operation of hydraulically operated and hydraulically or electronically individually commanded shift elements. The filling and feeding operation is divided into a rapid filling phase and a filling equalization phase and has as parameters at least one rapid filling period, one rapid filling pressure, one filling equalization period and one filling equalization pressure. To optimize said parameters two of the four are preset and for the other two, an optimal value is determined for the first parameter to be optimized on the basis of a preset, time-dependent pressure curve in which a pressure increase phase follows the rapid filling phase and equalization phase. To this end, based on an initial value presettable in each case, the first parameter is gradually adjusted until a speed change occurs at or before the start of the pressure increase phase.

  • Patent number: 6081760
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of monitoring the gearshift process in an automatic transmission. In order to be able to recognize fault conditions, the invention proposes in one embodiment that the actual change in transmission ratio is compared with a required change in transmission ratio. In another embodiment the change in the difference in the speed of the rotation of the engaging shift element is examined. It is also possible to analyze the gradient of the difference in the speed of rotation of the engaging shift element. A further possibility is to monitor the gradient of the transmission input speed. In addition, the gradient of the speed at the transmission output can be monitored. As result of the analysis, the transmission ratio is either retained or a predetermined safety condition is brought about.

  • Patent number: 6026699
Abstract: A gear control for reduces the thermal stress on switching components (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) of a reversing gear (1) for machines having an input shaft (8) and an output shaft (15) and at least one directional switch for forward motion (2) and one for reverse motion (3) and a downstream load-switchable switching set (4) with several switching components (5, 6) allocated to a gear. Here the switching components (2, 3, 5, 6) can be electrically and/or hydraulically controlled by a regulating and control device (12) in such a way that, during a switching operation, in addition to one of the directional switching components (2, 3) corresponding to the switching operation, at least one other switching components (5, 6) of the downstream switching set (4) lying in the power flow and fully engaged at the start of a reversal is set to a slip state under frictional load. The frictional load is thus distributed between the directional switching components (2, 3) and the other slipping switching components (5, 6).

  • Patent number: 5997433
Abstract: A transmission control system is proposed for reducing thermal load on engaging elements (2, 3, 4, 5) in a gearbox (1) during the starting operation. The gearbox (1) has an input shaft (7) and an output shaft (9) and at least two engaging elements or clutches (2, 3, 4, 5) each of which is allocated to a gear and comprises a first clutch half (21, 31, 41, 51) which transmits the force coming from the direction of the input shaft (7) onto a second clutch half (22, 32, 42, 52) which in turn transmits the force in the direction of the output shaft (9). Transmission elements (11, 12, 13) and shafts (7, 8, 9, 23, 33, 40, 50) are mounted between the input shaft (7) and a first clutch (2, 3) and/or between the first clutch (2, 3) and a second clutch (4, 5) and/or between the second clutch (4, 5) and a further clutch or the output shaft (9).
