    Abstract: The invention relates to a chromium-based alloy which has a chromium content of more than 65% by weight and the following composition: 0.005 to 5% by weight of one or more oxides of the rare earth elements and 0.1 to 32% by weight of one or more metals selected from the group comprising iron, nickel and cobalt, the remainder being chromium.The alloy may furthermore contain up to 30% by weight of one ore more metals selected from the group comprising Al, Ti, Zr and Hf, up to 10% by weight of one or more metals selected from the group comprising V, Nb, Mo, Ta, W and Re and up to 1% by weight of C and/or N and/or B and/or Si.Compared with pure chromium the alloy has a substantially improved oxidation resistance and improved corrosion resistance, in particular with respect to vanadium pentoxide.

The material includes a chromium alloy having from 3 to 10 atom % iron and from 0.5 to 5 atom % of rare earth metal and/or rare earth metal oxide, having a coefficient of thermal expansion at a temperature of 200.degree. C. amounting to from 8.5.times.10.sup.-6 to 10.5.times.10.sup.-6 per kelvin by which the temperature rises, and attaining a value at 900.degree. C. in a range from 14.times.10.sup.-6 to 15.times.10.sup.-6.

    Abstract: A visual display monitor of an information system of a motor vehicle is connected not only with the usual engine and vehicle instrumentation, but also with a variety of electrical equipments installed in the motor vehicle which the driver may want to activate and control from time to time. The picture screen of the monitor, preferably of the LCD, electro-luminescence or plasma type, is subdivided into a report region at the top and a region for interactive information such as instructions menus and operation results. All the functions that would otherwise be performed by individual buttons, knobs and switches of the various equipments installed in the vehicle may be simply performed by a series of easily designated choices. One input device has a ball control for directing a cursor on the screen of the monitor, a menu button and an entry button, and may be located on the steering wheel.

    Abstract: In a process for manufacturing semi-finished products from sintered refractory metal alloys with a stacked microstructure, the sinter feed reshaped by at least 85% is subjected prior to recrystallization annealing to an intermediate annealing for at least 20 minutes at a temperature not less than 700.degree. C. and not greater than that at which no further recrystallization occurs. Following this intermediate annealing, the hot feed is deformed by a further 3% to 30%. The process makes it possible to manufacture semi-finished products with a good stacked microstructure and of substantially greater dimensions, or of the same dimensions and a substantially better stacked microstructure, than can be obtained with known manufacturing processes.

    Abstract: A process for the manufacture of dispersion-strengthened alloys of the refractory metals of the 4th, 5th and 6th subgroups of the Periodic Table for application in semi-finished products or preformed parts requiring high thermal creep-resistances, involves integrating dispersion-strengthening into the process in 2-4 partial operational steps through thermal reshaping, utilizing only 3-25% strain per partial step. Annealing processes are implemented between the individual reshaping processes at temperatures, which at least during some part of the annealing process, are below the respective recrystallization temperatures of the alloy materials. The maximum deformation of the alloy materials is 75%, but is normally substantially lower. Components manufactured from the materials produced according to the process include tools used in isothermic high-temperature forging or in rotating anode X-ray tubes.

    Abstract: A creep-resistant alloy having a tiered structural arrangement of one or several refractory metals Mo, W, Nb, Ta, V, Cr containing certain doping agents, as well as a process for producing the same. The special doping agents are compounds and/or mixed phases of such compounds selected from the group of oxides, nitrides, carbides, borides, silicates or aluminates having a melting point higher than 1500.degree. C. The size of their grains is .ltoreq.1.5 .mu.m, their proportion in the alloy is comprised between 0.005 and 10% by weight. Unlike in the known state of the art, the use of porassium as doping agent is avoided in this alloy. A good reproducible consolidation and in particular high densities during sintering can thus be obtained. Furthermore, this alloy has better ambient temperature, heat and creep resistance properties than known alloys of refractory metal with a tiered structual arrangement.

The rotary anodes are comprised of a basic body made of molybdenum alloy comprising about 0.1 to 15% by weight hafnium, about 0.1 to 15% by weight zirconium, about 0.01 to 1.0% by weight carbon and the balance molybdenum.The alloy according to the invention has a low tendency of cracking distortion, and/or surface roughening, even with focal track zones made of tungsten and tungsten alloys and even at operating temperatures exceeding the currently normal values by up to about 200.degree. C.
