  • Patent number: 6398010
Abstract: Flat objects, conveyed in succession, are deposited on a slower forwarding conveyor in shingle formation so that a decelerating unit settles from the top on the deposited objects. To guarantee a flawless deposit of the workpieces in shingle formation, the decelerating unit comprises a group of bands or belts, which rotate parallel to each other over deflecting rolls and which are driven at the same speed as the forwarding conveyor and which are forced against the self-forming workpiece shingle, by means of the wheels or rolls, mounted on swivelable levers.

  • Patent number: 4918958
Abstract: The invention relates to a bending apparatus for wires having a cross section which varies according to their lengths, and comprising two cylindrical sections and an interleaved conical section. The wire is bent by means of three rollers. The bending roller is mounted on a carriage and determines the bending degree imparted to the fed wire. The wire is bent despite its variable diameter so that it is deposited with a regular curvature on the reception plate. To this effect, the curvature of the conical section is changed between the correct curvature of the thinner cylindrical section of the wire and that of the thicker cylindrical section of the wire. It only requires a simple switching at an appropriate time to obtain a sire bobbin which may be deposited on the reception plate. The appropriate switching time is situated between 20% and 60%, but preferably between 30% and 40%, and is calculated from the beginning of the wire diameter increase.

  • Patent number: 4056958
Abstract: A method of straightening elongated workpieces of circular or other cross section comprises subjecting a portion of the workpiece during its movement in longitudinal direction thereof to rotary bending forces so that successive curvatures of the workpiece in a zone trailing said portion in said direction gradually increase to thereby surpass the yield point of the material of the workpiece and in a zone leading said portion in said direction gradually decrease in such a manner that the decrease of the curvatures and the corresponding decrease of the plasticity of the workpiece occurs slower than the increase thereof, and an apparatus for carrying out the method.

  • Patent number: 4047418
Abstract: Machine for simultaneous reduction and straightening of metallic tubes or rods has a reducing die which is mounted in the frame downstream of a guide for workpieces and upstream of a ring-shaped straightening tool whose axis orbits about the axis of the opening in the die. The outlet end of the internal surface surrounding the opening in the die tapers counter to the direction of lengthwise movement of workpieces through the die. The guide insures that the workpieces cannot be flexed upstream of the throat portion of the internal surface of the die, and a second guide can be provided downstream of the straightening tool to confine the flexing of the workpieces to the region between the throat portion of the internal surface of the die and the second guide. The tool is mounted in a spherical bearing which is installed in the eccentric bore of a sleeve driven by a pulley to rotate about the axis of the die whereby the tool orbits the axis of its passage about the axis of the opening in the die.

  • Patent number: 4037446
Abstract: Method of producing bright steel from rolled steel wire, in which the diameter of the rolled wire is first reduced by passing the same through a calibrating device, preferably a reducing mill, whereby internal stresses assymetrical with respect to the wire axis are produced in the wire, thereafter removing peripheral surface portions from the wire and subsequently straightening the wire, and subjecting the wire before removing peripheral surface portions therefrom to a radial bending force rotating about the axis of the wire to plastically deform the latter to thus reduce the assymetrical internal stresses to thereby improve the perfect roundness of the finished product.

  • Patent number: 4030332
Abstract: A straightening machine for straightening elongated workpieces at high speed comprises a plurality of stands or frames mounted on a machine bed displaceable with respect to each other in the direction of the movement of the workpieces. Each stand comprises a cage provided with a set of four straightening rolls rotatable about the axis. Each cage is mounted on a cage holder on a guide adjustable in radial direction with respect to the workpiece axis and the guides on the plurality of stands are located in parallel planes normal to the workpiece axis, with the guides on successive stands extending normal to each other as viewed in the direction of movement of the workpiece through the machine.

  • Patent number: 3933018
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for carrying out the method for straightening sections of elongated workpieces such as bars and tubes in a bending, forging and/or straightening machine having at least one straightening roll which can be moved radially relative to the workpiece and at least a second roll for determining the straightening gap end face. During the initial and end phase of the straightening process the head and tail sections of the workpiece, respectively, are affected by a roll which moves in accordance with a preselected mathematical function or sequence.
