    Abstract: This invention relates to liquid polyisocyanate compositions having improved freeze stability. These liquid polyisocyanate compositions have an NCO group content of 15 to 30%, and comprise (A) an allophanate-modified MDI and having an NCO group content of 16 to 32.5%, (B) a low molecular weight branched aliphatic dihydroxy compound, and (C) an epoxide functional compound which is present in an amount of 0.01 to 1% by weight, based on the combined weight of components (A) and (B).

  • Polyurethane/geotextile composite and a process related thereto for the production thereof

    Abstract: A polyurethane/geotextile composite having greater strength and dimensional stability than composites made with filled polyurethanes is produced by impregnating a geotextile with an unfilled polyurethane composition and allowing the polyurethane composition to cure. The polyurethane composition employed is reaction product of a liquid polyisocyanate having an isocyanate content of at least 10% by weight, a high molecular weight polyether polyol, and an organometallic catalyst. A low molecular weight diol or triol may optionally be included in the polyurethane-forming reaction mixture. These polyurethane/geotextile composites are particularly suitable for lining ditches and canals.

    Abstract: Two-ply polyurethane geotextile composites suitable for lining ditches and canals in which a rigid, dimensionally stable geotextile is bonded to a soft, pliable geotextile with a solidifiable, liquid polyurethane composition which is a reaction product of a mixture of a liquid polyisocyanate having an NCO content of at least 10% by weight, an isocyanate-reactive component which includes at least one high molecular weight polyether polyol and a urethane catalyst are made, preferably at the site where the composite will be used.
