  • Patent number: 7712766
Abstract: A side airbag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes an airbag which is provided for the protection of a vehicle occupant and which has at least two inflatable chambers which are in each case to assume a specific position in a motor vehicle after inflation. A functional band is provided, which is secured by a portion outside the airbag. At least a portion of the functional band exerts on at least one of the chambers of the airbag a holding force, which has the effect that the chamber, after inflation, assumes the position provided for the chamber.

  • Patent number: 7703800
Abstract: An apparatus for an airbag arrangement including a frame part and an airbag package. The frame part may be a part of a base body of a motor vehicle seat. The airbag package is fastened to the frame part. The airbag package includes a folded-up airbag that may be inflated with gas. The airbag package further includes at least one clamping element that is configured to press the airbag package against the frame part. The clamping element includes a first and a second end region via which the clamping element is secured to the frame part. The two end regions are connected to one another via a pretensionable bearing region of the clamping element. The clamping element includes an intermediate layer extending between the airbag package and the frame part, that together with the bearing region encompasses the airbag package in cross section by 360°.

  • Patent number: 7641224
Abstract: A vehicle occupant restraint systems including an airbag which has a first airbag chamber and a second airbag chamber or, more generally, a first partial region and a second partial region. The first and the second airbag chambers are connected to each other so that, as a function of the internal pressures present, gas from the first airbag chamber can flow into the second airbag chamber and gas from the second airbag chamber can flow into the first airbag chamber. The second airbag chamber may include an elastic wall, so that, upon a loading of the first airbag chamber, gas flows into the second airbag chamber and, in the process, elastically expands the second airbag chamber.

  • Publication number: 20090184500
Abstract: An airbag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes an airbag on a side of a backrest of a vehicle seat that when inflated first extends substantially in a direction of a vertical vehicle axis and then forward from a backrest in a direction of travel of the vehicle. The airbag includes at least one inflatable chamber extending substantially forward from the backrest in the direction of travel and that is assigned to a body region of a vehicle occupant to support the vehicle occupant in a side collision. The at least one chamber is extended by a section that extends forward in the direction of travel when the airbag is inflated so that the airbag supports the vehicle occupant if vehicle occupant moves obliquely forward in the direction of travel because the section intercepts the associated body region of the vehicle occupant.

  • Publication number: 20090020986
Abstract: A fixing element fixes a part to a support wall. When the fixing element is inserted into an opening in the support wall and reaches a predetermined end position, the fixing element locks to the support wall. The fixing element includes a stop element, a snap-on element, and an unlocking element. The stop element bears against a side of the support wall when the fixing element is locked to the support wall. The snap-on element is positioned on an inner side of the support wall when the fixing element is locked to the support wall. The unlocking element is connected to the snap-on element. The unlocking element is configured to permit the snap-on element to be unlocked and the fixing element to be removed from the opening. An installation tool and a testing tool may be used in conjunction with the fixing element.

  • Publication number: 20080179867
Abstract: An airbag for a vehicle passenger restraint system includes at least one airbag chamber that can be filled with gas and has at least one outflow device through which gas can escape from the airbag chamber. The outflow device includes a tubular extension defined on a wall of the at least one airbag chamber that provides an outflow opening of the at least one airbag chamber. The airbag includes at least a first airbag chamber and a second airbag chamber. The tubular extension is defined on the first airbag chamber and extends into the second airbag chamber. When the airbag is triggered, the second airbag chamber is filled with gas solely by the tubular extension. The tubular extension bends over in the second airbag chamber when no gas is flowing through it to constitute a valve and allow gas to flow only in the direction of the second airbag chamber.

  • Patent number: 6070130
Abstract: A method of testing a large number of products in which every product to be tested is subjected to at least one test mode that is carried out in a test sequence successively on all products by means of a test operation comprising several successively performed measurement operations, where statistical information on the test operation of products already tested is allowed for and where a test result is allocated for every product tested. In every test mode the order of the measurement operations of a test operation is specified such that the measurement operations are arranged in accordance with their fault frequency per measurement time and the functional dependencies between the measurement operations. Every test operation within the test sequence of a test mode is allocated a measurement mode which has a certain quantity of measurement operations to be performed and which is specified in accordance with the quantity and the products already tested in a test sequence.
