  • Patent number: 8491050
Abstract: A front-end part of a motor vehicle has a front panel with air inlet openings in a central region and lateral regions. A central air-guiding element (14) is positioned behind a central air inlet opening in the front panel and a lateral air-guiding element (15) is positioned behind at least one lateral air inlet opening in the front panel. An air scoop (18) is arranged between the central air-guiding element (14) and at least one lateral air-guiding element (15). The air scoop (18) can be moved between a pre-installation position where the air scoop is spaced from the central air-guiding element and an installation position where the air scoop is placed against or connected to the central air-guiding element.

  • Patent number: 8210298
Abstract: A device for fixing a heat transfer device, in particular a coolant radiator (3), in the frame-type assembly support (2) of a front end module (1) for a motor vehicle. Said assembly support (2) comprises an upper crossmember (2a), two lateral parts (2c, 2d) and preferably a lower crossmember (2b) and the heat transfer device (3) essentially has four bearings (9, 10, 11, 12), which are elastically supported on the assembly support (2). The heat transfer device (3) is provided with bearing journals, which are held in elastically deformable bushings. The two upper bearings (11, 12) comprise intermediate supports, which hold the bushings and can be fixed to the assembly support (2) without additional auxiliary elements.

  • Patent number: 7766418
Abstract: A mounting structure for the front end of a car or small truck has a frame-shaped structure that surrounds an air cooled pass-through area and exhibits an upper crossmember, a lower crossmember and sidemembers connecting them. The upper crossmember is designed as a closed wall for receiving a hood lock and forms a sealing rib that borders on the air cooled pass-through area for an air-blocking connection of a radiator component. To provide the upper crossmember as the lock crossmember at the mounting structure with a high moment of inertia and to reduce the air cooled pass-through area only to a negligible degree, the upper crossmember is strutted using a lattice structure that is adjacent to the sealing rib and protrudes into the air cooled pass-through area, where the lattice openings form a part of the air cooled pass-through area with their entire opening area.

  • Publication number: 20080061601
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for fixing a heat transfer device, in particular, a coolant radiator (7), in the frame-type assembly support (2) of a front end module (1) for a motor vehicle. According to the invention, the two upper bearings (11, 12) comprise intermediate supports, which hold the bushings and can be fixed to the assembly support (2) without additional auxiliary elements.

  • Publication number: 20050229530
Abstract: A lightweight, plastic coated component is in the shape of a three-dimensional shaped part with a metal layer provided with access apertures through which the plastic may flow. The component includes stiffening ribs created by the plastic that are positioned within hollow areas of the three-dimensional shaped part, and whose plastic extends through the apertures of the metal insert. The component is formed as a metal insert spray-covered with plastic for the purposes of optimizing the plastic spray process and to achieve an inner bond between the metal insert and the stiffening ribs. The metal insert includes a large number of evenly-distributed holes, and these holes form a flow resistance and also a flow enabler for the molten mass of plastic during spraying. There are projections present at each of the holes that are covered by the plastic coating.
