  • Patent number: 10961896
Abstract: A method provides for manufacturing a flap carrier for an exhaust gas flap, especially for the exhaust gas stream of an internal combustion engine. The method includes providing a flap housing (50) and providing a stop ring (48). The stop ring (48) is inserted into the flap housing (50) in a position corresponding to an installed position. The stop ring (48) is fixed to the flap housing (50). Subsequently to fixing the stop ring (48) to the flap housing (50), at least one shaft opening (60, 62) for a pivot shaft carrying a flap diaphragm with at least one flap wing is inserted into the stop ring (48).

  • Patent number: 10215067
Abstract: A system (70) for actively controlling sound propagating through exhaust systems (40) includes a controller (90), a sound generator (30), in fluid communication with an exhaust system (40), and an actuator (20), inside the sound generator and receiving a controller control signal for generating sound inside the sound generator to reduce sound inside the exhaust system. The controller identifies an increased exhaust pressure inside the exhaust system based on signals output by an error microphone (50), a temperature sensor (51), an impedance measuring bridge (52), a bus system (53), or a water sensor (54). The controller interrupts a generation of the control signal and/or interrupts an output of the control signal to the at least one actuator and/or reduces a level of the control signal output to the at least one actuator by at least 30% or at least 60% upon determining a presence of an excessive exhaust gas pressure.

  • Patent number: 9706295
Abstract: An anti-noise system for influencing exhaust noises propagating through a multi-flow exhaust system includes a controller 80 and at least one actuator. The at least one actuator is disposed in a sound generator 20; 21; 23; 25; 27, connected to the controller 80 for receiving control signals, and adapted to generate sound inside the sound generator 20; 21; 23; 25; 27. The sound generator 20; 21; 23; 25; 27 is connectable to at least two exhaust tracts 60, 61 of the multi-flow exhaust system of the vehicle simultaneously. The controller 80 is configured to generate a control signal that prompts the at least one actuator disposed in the sound generator 20; 21; 23; 25; 27 to cancel sound inside the at least two exhaust tracts 60, 61 of the vehicle's multi-flow exhaust system at least in part and preferably completely.

  • Patent number: 9462363
Abstract: A sound generator (1) for an exhaust system (2) of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle (3) includes a housing (4), with an electroacoustic converter (5) having a membrane (6) separating a housing rear volume (9) from a housing front volume (10). A connection pipe (11) connects the front volume (10) of the sound generator (1) to an exhaust gas-carrying exhaust gas line (12) fluidically and acoustically. To reduce the risk of damage to the membrane (6), for example, in case the housing (4) becomes flooded, a pressure equalization line (15) is connected by a proximal end (16) to the housing (4) on the outside and is connected fluidically with the rear volume (9) through an opening (18) in the housing. A distal end (17) of the pressure equalization line (15) is at a spaced location from the housing (4).

  • Publication number: 20160186640
Abstract: A mixer for an exhaust gas duct system of an internal combustion engine includes a flow channel element (16) with a flow channel (14), through which exhaust gases can flow in a main direction of flow (S). At least one mixer element (12) in the flow channel element (16) is movable in the flow channel element (16) to change a mixing effect.
