  • Publication number: 20050130338
Abstract: A method for producing a sensor (1) for detecting at least one gas constituent in the exhaust gas of an internal-combustion engine. An electrode structure (3), acting as a capacitor, is applied to a substrate (2). A gas-permeable zeolite layer (6) is applied to the electrode structure (3) and the substrate (2). After the application of the zeolite layer (6), the sensor (1) is heated in the presence of water vapor. During the heating, a voltage is applied to the electrode structure (3). A bias voltage, superimposed on the operating voltage of the electrode structure 3, is applied to a first connection 4 and/or to a second connection 5 of the electrode structure 3.

  • Patent number: 6861939
Abstract: The operating temperature of a gas sensor capable of sensing a gas or a gas composition at a high temperature, for example 1000° C. is maintained constant over the entire volume of a gas sensor layer or function layer (4) secured to a sensor carrier section of the gas sensor by supplying heat to the gas sensor layer (4) in such a way that varying heat dissipations in the sensor carrier section are compensated. For this purpose, an electrical heater for heating the gas sensor layer (4) has individual heater sections with different heating resistance values which depend on a spacing between any individual heater section and the tip of the sensor carrier section.

  • Patent number: 6858167
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for forming molten drops of precursors of thermoplastic polyesters or copolyesters as molten monomer, oligomer, monomer/glycol mixture or after partial polycondensator [sic] and melting to give a molten precursor, in which the precursor formed into drops is introduced into a gaseous medium, and the gaseous medium, after entry of the precursor formed into drops into the gaseous medium, accelerates the crystallization process by holding the drop-form precursor at a temperature above 100° C. and below its melting point for a limited time until crystallization of the drop at the surface of the precursor is complete. To this end, the apparatus has a fall tower, through which the gaseous medium flows in countercurrent from bottom to top, while the drops fall in the vertical direction from top to bottom into a collecting funnel with a precrystallized surface.

  • Patent number: 6779326
Abstract: The apparatus is a spring system on forage harvester feedrolls. The upper forward feedroll has two concentric springs on each side. The outer spring is operative over the whole range of displacement. The inner spring exerts tensioning force on the feedroll only as of a certain minimal lifting of the feedroll. The rear upper feedroll has one spring on each side. This one spring has a substantially smaller spring force than the forward spring package. The feedroll supporting linkages are arranged with complementary and cooperating cam surfaces which are disposed so that, when the forward feedroll is lifted above a predetermined minimum value, the rearward feedroll is also lifted thereby (to a lesser degree) without even any lifting force from the crop material passing therebelow.

  • Patent number: 6424453
Abstract: A method for the production of Gaussian intensity distribution in the beam profile of secondary radiation generated by non-linear optical processes, particularly frequency conversion and more particularly frequency doubling of a primary radiation beam. The non-linearly generated, secondary radiation beam is non-Gaussian in profile due to the walk-off effect and has a near field path near the non-linear optical material and a transition field path interconnecting the near field path with a remote, or far, field path. A Gaussian secondary beam profile of substantially circular cross-section is produced at a finite distance from the optical material by providing an optical system in the transition path which, taken as a whole, has no divergence altering or imaging effect on the secondary radiation beam.

  • Patent number: 6317449
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method and to a device for resonance enhancement, in particular for tunable frequency conversion of continuous laser radiation, in particular, with a resonator of mirrors and at least one refractive element. The purpose of the invention is to develop a method and a device of the described type, so that the frequency conversion of continuous laser radiation, in particular, will occur at high efficiency while avoiding the described disadvantages, and so that an improved tunability will be assured over the greatest possible wavelength range with regard to the incident wavelengths; this problem is solved in that a tuning of resonator length is performed by translation of at least one refractive element P. The resonator is formed from a first mirror M1, a second mirror M2, and of a refractive element P designed in trapezoidal shape, which performs the function of a prism.

  • Patent number: 6247774
Abstract: A postage meter machine has a digital printer device with a guide plate and a transport mechanism for print media controlled by a control unit that generates print control signals for a printhead in order to print the print medium surface with a corresponding print format while the print medium is being transported past the printhead. A print sensor is arranged in the guide plate before a recess for the printhead. A preparation sensor is arranged in the guide plate at a predetermined distance upstream, preceding the print sensor. The control unit includes a microprocessor to which an encoder for determining the belt travel path of the conveyor belt and the aforementioned sensors are connected. The microprocessor, together with a memory, forms a belt counter that is updated on the basis of the signals supplied by the encoder.
