  • Patent number: 9567968
Abstract: Described is a method for detecting a glow plug replacement of an engine, wherein a first value of a temperature-dependent variable is measured at a first glow plug of the engine and, simultaneously, a second value of the temperature-dependent variable is measured at a second glow plug of the engine. The first value of the temperature-dependent variable is compared with a stored reference value of the first glow plug and a glow plug replacement is detected if the difference of the first value from the reference value exceeds a threshold value. According to this disclosure, it is provided that the reference value is a value which, in an earlier measurement, was measured at the first glow plug simultaneously with the measurement of a value at the second glow plug which corresponds to the second value within a predefined tolerance.

  • Patent number: 9488153
Abstract: A method for operating a glow plug by means of pulse-width-modulated voltage pulses which are generated by controlling a load transistor, wherein a heating current flowing through the glow plug is measured and the duty cycle of the pulse-width-modulated voltage pulses is changed in accordance with values of the heating current. The heating current can be measured by means of a current measurement circuit, through which a sense current flows parallel to the load transistor, and the value of the heating current is calculated by multiplying a measured value of the sense current by a kILIS factor, wherein the temperature of the current measurement circuit is measured and the kILIS factor is defined in accordance with the measured circuit temperature. A glow plug control device is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9470512
Abstract: An optical fiber strain sensor system and method are provided that use pre-formed optical structures instead of optical fibers for measuring the strain, or stress, placed on a subject object. The use of pre-formed optical structures in the optical strain gauge system eliminates many of the limitations associated with the use of optical fibers. Because the optical structures are pre-formed structures, they can be made with very tight tolerances to ensure high measurement accuracy and repeatability. The pre-formed structures can be made in low to high volume at low cost and can be made of a variety of materials to ensure that the structures are suitable for use with the material of which the subject object is made. Also, the pre-formed structures can be made very compact while achieving higher sensitivity and exhibiting less optical loss than fiber.

  • Publication number: 20160252823
Abstract: An illumination system for EUV projection lithography has a beam shaping optical unit for generating an EUV collective output beam from an EUV raw beam of a synchrotron-radiation-based light source. An output coupling optical unit serves for generating a plurality of EUV individual output beams from the EUV collective output beam. In each case a beam guiding optical unit serves for guiding the respective EUV individual output beam toward an object field in which a lithography mask is arrangable. The result is an illumination system with which EUV light of a synchrotron-radiation-based light source is guided to the greatest possible extent without losses and at the same time flexibly.

  • Publication number: 20160068994
Abstract: A silicon-carbide volume monocrystal is produced with a specific electrical resistance of at least 105 ?cm. An SiC growth gas phase is generated in a crystal growing area of a crucible. The SiC volume monocrystal grows by deposition from the SiC growth gas phase. The growth material is transported from a supply area inside the growth crucible to a growth boundary surface of the growing monocrystal. Vanadium is added to the crystal growing area as a doping agent. A temperature at the growth boundary surface is set to at least 2250° C. and the SiC volume monocrystal grows doped with a vanadium doping agent concentration of more than 5·1017 cm?3. The transport of material from the SiC supply area to the growth boundary surface is additionally influenced. The growing temperature at the growth boundary surface and the material transport to the growth boundary surface are influenced largely independently of one another.

  • Patent number: 9238098
Abstract: An apparatus and method for blood treatment for the single-needle mode, the apparatus having an extra-corporeal blood circuit with a blood infeed line running to the inlet and a blood return line leading away from the outlet, of a blood treating unit, includes in the blood return line a device, e.g., container, for amassing blood, which is in flow-permitting connection for gas transfer with a device, e.g., container, for storing gas. A pressure is calculated and set in the device for storing gas before the arterial and venous phases are started, with two constraints. First, the pressure should be sufficiently low to ensure both no infusion of air into the patient and also regulated flow of blood into the patient even at opposing pressures lower than ambient pressure. Second, the pressure should be sufficiently high to expel blood from the device for amassing blood into the device for storing gas.
