  • Publication number: 20080052881
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for determining the disposition of a shipped good, such as a car, damaged during transit. After the damage is detected, a digital image of the is obtained. The image is uploaded to a server typically along with the vehicle identification number and/or other identification data. The server determines the appropriate individual(s) to be contacted, and generates a notification message, typically including the URL of a web site where further information can he obtained. The appropriate individual (“user”) logs onto the server to view the digital images and provides input regarding the disposition of the good. The user may direct the damaged car to a repair shop, a dealer, or another destination. Alternatively, the user may indicate delivery of the car as originally planned. The server may notify other systems of the disposition as well. Other embodiments apply to the disposition of delivered packages.

  • Publication number: 20070039142
Abstract: The present invention relates to an assembly comprising a substrate bearing an adhesive layer and a multitude of discrete portions of a backing, said discrete portions of a backing being attached to the adhesive layer through one of the major surfaces of the backing and bearing on its exposed major surface opposite to the major surface attached to the adhesive layer, a plurality of male fastening elements capable of engaging with fibrous materials having a plurality of complementary female fastening elements, wherein the sum of the maximum densities of the discrete portions of the backing along the extension of the adhesive layer in the cross direction and in the machine direction, respectively, is at least 1 cm-1?, whereby the assembly releasably adheres to said fibrous material through a combination of a mechanical and an adhesive bonding mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20050202205
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a stretched mechanical fastening web laminate (1) comprising a thermoplastic web layer (13) having two major surfaces, one of the major surfaces bearing a multitude of male fastening elements (14) suitable for engagement with a corresponding female fastening material, and on its other major surface a fibrous web layer (11), said method comprising the steps of (i) providing the fibrous web layer (11) having an initial basis weight, (ii) passing the fibrous web layer (11) through a nip formed by two rolls (101), (103), one of them having cavities (120) that are the negatives of a plurality of male fastening elements (14), introducing a molten thermoplastic resin into the cavities (120) in excess of an amount that would fill the cavities (120) which excess forms the thermoplastic web layer (13), allowing the resin to at least partially solidify and stripping of a precursor web laminate (10) thus formed comprising the fibrous web layer (11) and the th
