  • Patent number: 8333150
Abstract: A method for starting up a web-fed printing press is disclosed. In an embodiment, the method includes: a) a first start-up sequence is executed while using predetermined preset parameters that are specific to the printing press and/or the print job for the color register adjustment, cut-off compensator control and the ink density control; b) the web-fed printing press is subsequently stopped, where copies printed during the first start-up sequence are evaluated with respect to the color register, the cut-off compensator and the ink density, and where the preset parameters are adjusted as a function of this evaluation while the printing press is stopped; c) following this, a second start-up sequence is executed, where the preset parameters that are adjusted during the standstill are not used for printing until defined printing press speeds are reached and/or exceeded.

  • Patent number: 7845274
Abstract: A web-fed printing press, in particular a newspaper printing press having at least two printing press subsystems, is disclosed. Each printing press subsystem has a printing unit comprised of several printing mechanisms, a web guidance unit for conveying printed and unprinted substrate webs and a turning bar unit having several turning bars. The printing press subsystems guide the printed substrate webs over at least one shared folding unit. At least one printing press subsystem is designed differently in comparison with the other or each other printing press subsystem such that substrate webs are printable with a different number of print pages in the printing press subsystems.

  • Publication number: 20090000502
Abstract: A method and device for blanket wash-up in the case of a printing couple of a rotary printing press, is disclosed. In order to wash up blankets, blanket plates or blanket sleeves on blanket printing cylinders in a time-saving and cost-effective manner by a blanket wash-up device, during delivery wash-up with paper, a separation of the paper web speed from the circumferential speed of the blanket printing cylinder is realized. As a result, it is possible to realize a high rotational speed of the blanket printing cylinder and therefore a high relative speed at the wash-up location with high water usage while only small amounts of paper are used.

  • Patent number: 6408747
Abstract: An offset printing unit includes at least one cylinder pair with a form cylinder and a transfer cylinder. The transfer cylinder cooperates with an impression cylinder in such a way that ink can be applied to a printing material web guided between the transfer cylinder and the impression cylinder. In order to permit the economic production of multifarious products with a relatively low technical outlay, the form cylinder is fitted in the circumferential direction with one, and in the longitudinal direction with at least four, portrait printed pages in broadsheet format. The form cylinder may optionally be fitted with landscape printed pages in tabloid format or portrait or landscape printed pages in book format. A circumference of the form cylinder receives one flexible printing plate and a longitudinal length of the form cylinder receives at least one flexible printing plate.
