Abstract: A vehicle arresting system includes a base layer, a carrier positioned and fixed by at least one fixation means on said base layer, a levelling layer, and a top layer. The base layer includes at least one compressible material. The base layer includes a bottom sublayer, a middle sublayer, and optionally an upper sublayer. The bottom sublayer includes a compressible material. The at least one fixation means fixedly attaches the carrier to the base layer. The levelling layer is positioned directly on and/or embedding said carrier, such that the levelling layer is in physical contact with said carrier.
