Patent number: 12384443Abstract: An adjustment device for vehicle steering columns has a steering shaft to which a steering element can be attached, and a drive unit for adjusting a length of the steering shaft. The steering shaft has at least two tubes, which engage into each other in a telescoping manner, can be moved relative to each other, and can in each case be driven by a drive unit. The two drive units are arranged next to each other in the region below the adjustment device. If the two tubes are inserted into each other, the adjustment device only has a short length, which is measured in the displacement direction of the tubes. Conversely, if the tubes are extended in a telescoping manner, a very large length adjustment range can be achieved despite the short length in the starting position.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2022Date of Patent: August 12, 2025Assignees: Willi Elbe Gelenkwellen GmbH & Co. KG, Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KGInventors: Jörg Hauhoff, Thomas Herrlich, Fabian Ruh, Philip Wurzberger, Simon Merz, Ralf Sedlmeier

Publication number: 20250121873Abstract: The disclosure relates to a steering unit for a steer-by-wire steering system of a motor vehicle, having a steering shaft which can be rotated by a driver, and a spindle drive which interacts with the steering shaft to limit a steering angle of the steering shaft, wherein the spindle drive has a spindle and a spindle nut screwed onto the spindle, wherein the spindle nut is displaceable with a movement component in the axial direction relative to the spindle when the spindle is rotated, wherein the spindle nut has a first spindle stop for tangentially striking against a first end stop fixed to the spindle, wherein the first end stop is formed integrally with the spindle. The number of components is thus reduced, and the structure of the steering unit is simplified, as a result of which the effort for production and assembly is reduced, and cost-effective production of the steering unit is made possible.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2022Publication date: April 17, 2025Inventors: Fabian RUH, Ralf SEDLMEIER, Jörg HAUHOFF, Thomas HERRLICH, Thomas GERLACH

Publication number: 20240336295Abstract: A compact adjustment device for steering columns of vehicles has a length-adjustable steering shaft to which a steering element can be connected. It includes at least one drive unit for length adjustment of the steering shaft. The steering shaft has a guide tube which is non-displaceably connected to a holder and into which an axially displaceable inner tube projects. It is drive-connected to the drive unit and can be connected to the steering element. Only a single drive unit is required to adjust the length of the steering shaft. It is used to axially move the inner tube to change the length of the steering shaft. The steering element is attached to the inner tube and can then be adjusted to the most favorable driving position using the inner tube. Since only one drive unit is required for the length adjustment, the design effort of the adjustment device is limited.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2024Publication date: October 10, 2024Applicant: Willi Elbe Gelenkwellen GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Ralf SEDLMEIER, Jörg HAUHOFF, Thomas HERRLICH, Aleksandar ANTONOV

Patent number: 9669861Abstract: The steering column adjusting device for vehicles, preferably commercial vehicles, has a basic unit, with respect to which an adjusting unit is adjustable. With the adjusting unit, a steering spindle can be adjusted. In its respective position, the adjusting unit can be clamped with respect to the basic unit with at least one clamping device. The clamping device is pivotably mounted on the adjusting unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2015Date of Patent: June 6, 2017Assignee: Willi Elbe Gelenkwellen GmbH & Co. Patent number: 7103975Abstract: An intermediate bearing for a driveline of a commercial vehicle has a housing (7) with a stirrup-shaped cross-section. The housing (7) has a fixing face (12) formed of two straight portions (8, 9) and a first arched portion (10). A bearing member (15) is arranged between the portions (8, 9, 10). The bearing member (15) is rubber and is connected to the fixing face (12) by vulcanization. A locking element (23) bridges the space between the two straight portions (8, 9). The locking member (23) is attached to the bearing member (15). The bearing member (15) encloses a supporting ring (16) which serves to receive a rolling contact bearing. The locking element (23) is adjustable for the purpose of setting a pre-tension of the bearing member (15) towards the longitudinal axis (18) of the bore (17) of the supporting ring (16). The locking element (23) can be connected to the housing (7) after the required pre-tension has been set.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2003Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Assignee: Spicer Gelenkwellenbau GmbH & Co. Patent number: 6350201Abstract: The invention relates to a universal joint having a first joint yoke (1) and a second joint yoke (8) as well as a cross member (23) for connecting said yokes. In the region of its two second yoke arms (11), the second joint yoke (8) is separated along a line extending through the second bearing bores, so that per yoke arm (11), there are obtained two yoke arm portions (15) continuing to be connected to the base portion (9), and a separate bridge portion (16). Separation takes place in the form of fracture separation, for which purpose regions in the second bearing bores are heat-treated by laser along a line; thereafter, a force applied to and concentrating on said regions leads to fracture faces which correspond to brittle fracture faces, so that after the separating operation, joining can easily take place without the bearing bores subsequently having to be re-machined. In this way, assembly is simplified.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1999Date of Patent: February 26, 2002Assignees: plettac Umformtechnik GmbH & Co. KG, Spicer Gelenkwellenbau GmbH & Co.
