  • Publication number: 20150013405
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for cooling a roll (1), in particular a working roll (1) of a hot-rolling system, comprising the steps of feeding coolant (3) by means of a nozzle (5) into a gap (7) between at least a portion of the roll surface and a cooling shell (9, 11) that can be placed against the portion of the roll surface, and adjusting the gap height (h) between the cooling shell (9, 11) and the roll surface. According to the invention, the adjustment of the gap height (h) comprises either measuring the pressure (pact) of the fed coolant (3) or measuring the volumetric flow rate (Vact) of the fed coolant (3). The invention further relates to a corresponding device (10) for cooling a roll (1).

  • Patent number: 8019048
Abstract: A window arrangement on a pressure pipe, with a casing in the train or at the end of the pressure pipe, said casing featuring flanges on diametrically opposing sides having radially directed passages, whose axes are standing perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the pressure pipe and are located in a measurement plane for an x-ray measurement device, an x-ray source being associated to the one passage on the outer side and a receiver sensitive to X-rays to the other passage, and with window plates that are transmissive for X-rays which are sealingly arranged in the associated passage and are fixed in the passage with the aid of a fastening member and which consist of a material which is resistant against high temperatures and process-due etchings by chemically aggressive substances.

  • Publication number: 20100281969
Abstract: The invention relates a position sensor (1) for measuring the adjustment stroke of a hydraulic piston/cylinder system (3, 4) which acts on the support chock of the rolls (2) of a rolling mill stand, wherein the position sensor (1) is designed to measure a relative displacement between two components (3,4) of the piston/cylinder system (3, 4) in the displacement direction (a) thereof and wherein the position sensor (1) is equipped with a coupling element (5).

  • Publication number: 20100162781
Abstract: A roll stand for rolling metallic strips comprises at least one roll or cylinder which is respectively mounted in a mounting on rolling bearings in the region of its end journals, and at least one distributing device for distributing a lubricant-gas flow. The roll stand according to the invention makes it easily possible in an operationally reliable manner to supply a rolling bearing, provided for mounting a roll or cylinder, with a precisely determined amount of lubricant. This is achieved according to the invention in that a connecting channel for the transport of a lubricant-gas flow to or from the distributing device is molded into the roll or cylinder.

  • Publication number: 20030018179
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel method for generating nucleation centers for the selective heterogeneous metal cluster growth on DNA molecules by employing metal complexes which are being bonded covalently to the bases of the DNA. The nucleation centers serve as preferred locations of chemical deposition of metals on the DNA from a solution so that clusters or thin metal films can be grown on the biological template without metallic deposition products being formed homogeneously in the solution. The method provides the possibility of controlling the metallization via the sequence of the employed DNA and is thus in principle sequence-specific.
