  • Publication number: 20090200718
Abstract: In a spring shock absorber for a motor vehicle, with a first body part and a second body part, the first body part forms a first changeable volume with the second body part by way of a first rolling bellows, and the second body part forms a second changeable volume with a roll-off piston connected to the first body part by way of a second rolling bellows. The two rolling bellows are arranged in such a way that they are guided in the radial direction during a rolling motion by lateral contours of the two body parts and the roll-off piston. The two volumes are connected to one another via a throttle element and form a hermetically closed two-volume system with respect to a deflection of the spring shock absorber. The roll-off piston is guided through the second body part in a longitudinally displaceable manner by means of a sealing element.

  • Patent number: 7441639
Abstract: A dashpot featuring amplitude-dependent shock absorption, especially intended for the wheel of a vehicle and including a hydraulically parallel cylindrical pressure-compensation chamber (8). The pressure-compensation chamber is partitioned by an axially displaceable floating piston (10). At least one face (25) of the floating piston is provided with a resilient bumper (18). The object is a dashpot with a floating piston that arrives more gently at its limit inside the pressure-compensation chamber (8). The bumper is accordingly accommodated in an axial hollow (17) that extends through the body (15) of the floating piston.

  • Patent number: 7228785
Abstract: A piston rod has a hollow section with an open end, a housing, and a fastening connection for a piston. The housing includes a cap welded to the open end, a tubular intermediate piece welded to the cap, and a bottom part attached to the fastening connection. The cap has a shoulder received in the intermediate piece to form an annular space which functions as a labyrinth seal to receive any weld spatters formed during the friction welding process. The outside surface of the piston rod is machined to final dimensions and surface coated following welding.

  • Publication number: 20050133319
Abstract: In a shock absorber for a motor vehicle for damping the relative movement between a vehicle wheel and a vehicle body, comprising a damper housing filled with an operating medium and a piston rod with a piston disposed in the damper housing so as to divide the interior of the damper housing into two operating chambers and forming a first damper element, a second damper element is disposed in the piston rod and is in communication with the two operating chambers by way of bypass bores extending through the piston rod.
