  • Patent number: 4659147
Abstract: A dump trailer includes a frame attached below a trailer bed and having a first pair of parallel outer rails which are inclined upwardly from front to rear and a pair of center rails which are inclined downwardly from front to rear. A towing tongue extends along the center line of the frame and includes a forked end having a first pair of rollers engaging the first pair of rails and a second pair of rollers which engage the center rails. Pairs of wheels are disposed on each side of the bed and are mounted on the ends of leading and trailing arms pivotally mounted on the frame. A strut is adapted to be coupled to the arms at points above or below the wheel spindles for raising and lowering the bed relative to the wheels. The trailer is dumped by using a prime mover to force the tongue rearwardly thereby moving the rollers backwardly along their respective rails to pivot the frame and bed about the axis of the rear wheels.

  • Patent number: 4359918
Abstract: A mechanism for die-cutting a laminated strip includes a roll stand having an annular carrier band mounted for rotation about a vertical axis. A plurality of roll mounting assemblies are mounted for discharging strip material onto the carrier band to form a laminated strip. Each roll mounting assembly includes a pivotally mounted roll support which includes a frictional carrier so that the weight of the roll produces frictional forces for pivoting the roll into engagement with the carrier band. A feed assembly transports the laminated strip from the carrier band to a horizontally oriented conveyor belt disposed below a die-cutter driven for vertical reciprocatory movement by a first eccentrically mounted crank arm. The conveyor belt pulleys are disposed on a carrier which is mounted for horizontal reciprocating movement below the die-cutter. The connecting rod is coupled to the carrier reciprocating assembly and to a second eccentric mounted on the first eccentric.

  • Patent number: 4009876
Abstract: A mechanism for feeding blanks of corrugated cardboard and the like into a printing and container forming machine. The feeding mechanism includes a perforated suction head for moving individual sheets from a stack of sheets into the machine. The suction head includes a perforated plate and plenum chamber mounted on a tubular member which is telescopingly received over an open ended tubular support member, mounted on a hollow reciprocating shuttle. A valve is disposed at the shuttle end of the tubular support for connecting the shuttle to an evacuator and is actuable by a cam contoured such that the valve is actuated each time the suction head cycles. The blanks are supported with their forward ends at the shuttle and at their opposite ends by a universally adjustable support which compensates for warped blanks. A dump valve for venting the shuttle to atmosphere is operable in timed relation to the vacuum valve by means of a linear cam located adjacent the shuttle.

  • Patent number: 3994490
Abstract: A mechanism for feeding blanks or corrugated cardboard and the like into a printing and container forming machine. The feeding mechanism includes a perforated suction head for moving individual sheets from a stack of sheets into the machine. The suction head is mounted on a hollow reciprocating shuttle. A valve connects the shuttle to an evacuator and is actuable by a cam contoured such that the valve may be actuated each time the suction head cycles, during alternate suction head cycles or may remain inactive by varying the angular orientation of the cam and the cam follower coupled to the valve. In an alternate embodiment these variations of vacuum application to suction head cycling are provided by a valve having rotating members wherein the relative speed of the members may be adjusted to provide the control functions.

  • Patent number: 3955608
Abstract: Logs or tree limb sections to be debarked and a plurality of smaller, higher density impact objects are disposed in a series of interfaced, open-ended cylindrical sections, alternate ones of which have different diameters and are rotated in opposite directions about generally horizontal axes. The cylindrical sections are generally tangent about a point above their rotational axes and their upper ends are inclined slightly to promote migration of the impact objects and wood sections in series through the chambers and for discharging the same from the final chamber. At least the larger diameter sections include conveyers for carrying the impact objects upwardly and for releasing the same for impacting engagement against the wood sections to be debarked and an external conveyer recycles the impact objects from the final to the initial cylindrical section. An air delivery system discharges dislodged bark and other foreign material from the cylindrical sections.
