Patent number: 12239321Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring a bypass device for protecting an intestinal anastomosis are provided. The system includes a pump, one or more fluid inlet lines fluidicly coupled to the pump and to a negative pressure chamber of the bypass device, and one or more sensors configured to measure data indicative of pressure within the negative pressure chamber. A controller operatively coupled to the pump and the one or more sensors may be programmed to actuate the pump to generate a vacuum within the negative pressure chamber to thereby pull intestinal tissue towards the bypass device to anchor the bypass device at a target location upstream of the intestinal anastomosis. The controller further may compare the pressure within the negative pressure chamber with a predetermined pressure range and, if the pressure falls outside the predetermined pressure range, adjust the pump to maintain the vacuum within the predetermined pressure range.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2024Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: SafeHeal SASInventors: Michael J. Augelli, Daniel Congdon, Ralph Allen Hulseman, Cameron L. McPherson

Patent number: 9454817Abstract: An image processing apparatus uses first and second digital vascular image data to register two images. The two images may be from different imaging modes. The first and second images are processed with a two-dimensional, directional filter (500) that has the effect of producing clusters of orthogonally adjacent image data points in which the magnitude of an intensity gradient between each orthogonally adjacent image data point is less than a predetermined value. Subsequently, common clusters are identified between the first and second image data using a corner detecting algorithm (600). The directional filter produces “stepping” features, where vascular features would otherwise appear with smooth edges. These numerous features are identified by the corner detecting algorithm and can be used (1000) for registering common clusters between the first and second image data. The filter may be a rotating Gabor filter matched to vascular features in the images.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2014Date of Patent: September 27, 2016Assignee: OPTOS PLCInventors: David Clifton, Ralph Allen Pinnock

Publication number: 20120067484Abstract: A method to reduce or eliminate pinch flashing in mold operations by applying a thin coating of a hydrocarbon wax to the outside surface of an uncured rubber article or on the sidewall or shoulder of a green tire at a location(s) where segments of the mold close on each other and on the rubber article or tire during cure. The hydrocarbon wax has a melting point from about 60 degrees to about 80 degrees Celsius, and is compatible with the composition of the rubber. The hydrocarbon wax acts as a sacrificial layer and is scraped up by the mold parts instead of the rubber when the mold segments close.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2010Publication date: March 22, 2012Applicants: SOCIETE DE TECHNOLOGIE MICHELIN, MICHELIN RECHERCHE ET TECHNIQUE S.A.Inventors: Yue Zhang, Ralph Allen Hulseman
