  • Publication number: 20020088082
Abstract: A furniture glide including a ferrule having a circular bottom wall and an upstanding cylindrical side wall. A support platform composed of polymeric material is positioned in the ferrule. The support platform has a platform base in contact with the bottom wall and a support column extending upward from the platform base to a support shoulder. A clip has a clip hub in contact with the support shoulder and multiple clip arms which extend radially outward and longitudinally downward from the clip hub to engage a furniture leg inserted into the ferrule. A glide base is mounted to the ferrule.

  • Patent number: 6185783
Abstract: A garage door roller assembly includes a one-piece, unitary shaft and a one-piece, unitary roller, each composed of a polymeric material and a washer and a pin, each composed of case-hardened steel. The roller includes a sleeve portion having an axial bore, a wheel portion, and a web extending radially from the wheel portion to the sleeve portion. The shaft includes an axial bore, a mounting portion, and a race portion. The race portion is rotatably mounted within the bore of the sleeve portion of the roller. The pin includes a head and a stem which extends axially from the head through the opening of the washer into the bore of the shaft. A knurled segment of the stem frictionally engages the bore of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6154923
Abstract: A furniture glide includes a ferrule having an upstanding cylindrical side wall defining a ferrule opening for receiving a furniture leg. Four substantially equidistantly spaced, upstanding ribs extend laterally inward from the side wall to a guide surface. The diameter of the circle formed by the four guide surfaces is substantially the same as that of the ferrule opening. A clip mounted in the ferrule has a pair of upstanding opposed clip arms. A plurality of prongs extend radially inward from each clip arm such that the distance between the prongs of the first and second clip arms is less than the diameter of the ferrule opening. A glide base on the furniture glide contacts the floor.

  • Patent number: 5991974
Abstract: A furniture glide has a clip having a pair of upstanding arms mounted within a circular ferrule. The ferrule defines a ferrule opening diameter less than the diameter of the clip arms. The clip is sufficiently resiliently deformable to be insertable through the ferrule opening and return to its original diameter. A rivet having concentric convex and concave swivel surface extends from the ferrule to support a shell assembly on the convex swivel surface. A glide base is mounted to the shell assembly and contacts the concave swivel surface.

  • Patent number: 5810038
Abstract: A medical walker foot includes a shell having a base portion for engaging a floor or the ground when weight is applied to the walker and a sleeve portion for receiving the lower end of the medical walker leg. A biasing member is disposed within the shell for biasing a tip member into an extended position, disengaging the base portion from the ground, and allowing the tip member to glide along the ground when weight is removed from the walker. The biasing member provides a substantially uniform pressure throughout its full stroke and may comprise a cup-like urethane cushion or a coil spring. The base portion of the shell includes a wiper seal which extends radially into the opening in the base portion to form a watertight seal with the stem of the tip member.

  • Patent number: 5042764
Abstract: The free end of each leg of a chair, desk, or table has a glide member secured thereto for resiliently distributing at least the neutral weight of the furniture onto a floor. The glide has a base for contacting the floor and a rivet assembly engaging the chair leg. A cup-like urethane cushion is located between the rivet assembly and the base for transferring the chair load resiliently, thereby deflecting the cushion in the vertical direction commensurate with the load. In alternative embodiments, the cushion is augmented or replaced by a coil spring. Thus, each glide adjusts individually for leveling the piece of furniture.

  • Patent number: 4876782
Abstract: A fixture engages each leg of a chair leg assembly to support each leg against longitudinal displacement along respective leg axes. A ram and associated drive member are mounted opposite each leg free end so that each ram axis is substantially aligned with one leg axis. A glide is adapted to fit loosely on the leg free end in a first position and to be driven tightly onto the leg in a second position. A pair of cam arms are coupled to the ram so that as the ram advances toward a leg that has a glide in the first position thereon, the cam arms and jaw members at the free ends of the cam arms, pivot toward the leg. The jaw members cooperate to align the leg axis with the ram axis while the glide is in the first position and to support the leg transversely to the leg axis as the ram advances to drive the glide into the second position.
