Patent number: 8983632Abstract: A system having a function block execution framework. Function blocks may be for use in a control system design. These blocks may be selected from a library of a function block engine. Selected function blocks may be executed for operational purposes. They may be continuously executed by a processor to maintain operational status. However, since a function block engine and a resulting system of function blocks may be operated with battery power, executions of function blocks may be reduced by scheduling the executions of function blocks to times only when they are needed. That means that the processor would not necessarily have to operate continuously to maintain continual execution of the function blocks and thus could significantly reduce consumption of battery power.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2011Date of Patent: March 17, 2015Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Paul Wacker, Ralph Collins Brindle, Shilpa Anand

Patent number: 8621377Abstract: A configuration tool for a programmable HVAC controller is provided. The configuration tool may accept user input, and may generate a corresponding configuration profile based on the user input. The configuration profile may be downloaded to a programmable HVAC controller, which may, among other things, reconfigure the I/O terminals of the programmable HVAC controller. The configuration tool may generate a terminal diagram that labels at least some of the I/O terminals of the programmable HVAC controller based on the particular configuration profile. In some cases, the configuration tool may output the terminal diagram in a format that can be printed on a label, with the label being suitable for adhering to the programmable HVAC controller.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2011Date of Patent: December 31, 2013Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Aaron Francis D'Souza, Stalin Gutha Sanghamitra, Ralph Collins Brindle, Levi Geadelmann, Kevin Moore

Patent number: 8560095Abstract: A changeable BACnet interface system having a workstation and a controller. The system may allow a controller object interface to be engineered and downloaded to the controller via configuration files, rather than as individual objects created at run time. A BACnet network may be connected to the workstation and controller. BACnet objects may be designed to constitute an interface to the control application, and be stored in the controller. The BACnet interface may be presented to the BACnet network.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2009Date of Patent: October 15, 2013Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Ralph Collins Brindle, Dean C. Matsen, Michael Andrew Pouchak

Publication number: 20130238830Abstract: A control system having a bus extension framework. The system may have a flexible and reuseable block mechanism which may integrate with block control structures, and yet provide connections over a low cost two-wire communications bus. A function block engine may extend to multiple devices such as sensors, actuators, In/output devices, wall modules, graphical displays, network storage mechanisms, and so on. The system may integrate with other graphical function block systems and extend with a simple connection to and from additional bus resources. A connection scheme may hide the complexity of the underlying communications and still permit multiple address devices to communicate to each other among function block host devices. Complexity of the underlying communications may be revealed graphically to a system operator in an under-the-hood view. A main host controller may have a proxy file that holds a data file on virtually all of the devices in the system.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2012Publication date: September 12, 2013Applicant: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Michael Andrew Pouchak, Ralph Collins Brindle
