  • Patent number: 7448576
Abstract: A mobile platform personnel berth unit and a method for creating the mobile platform personnel berth unit are provided. A male mandrel is created defining an inner mold line surface of the berth unit. The male mandrel is overlayed with one or more layers of filament strips. The filament layers are thermally cured to create an integrated structural member. The male mandrel is then removed from the structural member. The structural member is profile shaped to create a semi-finished berth unit having a top, a bottom and a pair of integral side panels. Additional entrance and back panels as well as access panels and connecting hardware are then added to complete the berth unit.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 11, 2008
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
Inventors: Ralph D Druckman, Karen L Hills, Susan L Robinson
  • Patent number: 7302150
Abstract: An assembly for providing an indicator includes a light source, a stationary member, a first optical fiber coupled to the light source and to the stationary member, a movable panel, and a first latch assembly coupling the stationary member and the movable panel. The latch assembly has an unlatched position and a latched position. The assembly further includes a second optical fiber coupled to the movable panel, an indicator coupled to the movable panel, and a second optical fiber whereby in the last position, light from the first optical fiber is coupled to the second optical fiber differently than in the latched position.

  • Patent number: 6325568
Abstract: A one piece stowage bin (10) has a generally rectangular, polygonal open-fronted box-type structure. Right and left end panels (14) and (18) rise up from the sides of the bottom panel (12) to form side walls. Three fold lines allow the stowage bin (10) to comprise the rear lower panel (22), the rear upper panel (26) and the top panel (30) of the stowage bin. Tenons (51), (52), (53), (54), (57), (58), (59), and (60) extend from the margins of the right and left end panels (14) and (18). Mortise pockets (63), (64), (65), (66), (71), (72), (73), and (74) are formed in the side margins of the rear upper panel 26 and the top panel (30). The mortises and tenons create interlocking mortise and tenon joints that do not require a bonding adhesive. Right and left formed angle brackets (38) and (40) secure the right and left end panels (14) and (18) to the top panel (30).
