  • Patent number: 4404742
Abstract: A method of making a carrier for rivets or similar articles which includes the steps of guiding a strip of pliable resiliently deformable material to pass an apertured die sequentially driving a number of rivets to the strip with a striker to cause part of the strip to be deformed and stretched into the die and to punch a hole through the strip into which the rivet is driven and held frictionally, with drawing the striker and the die from the rivet and advancing the strip to receive the next rivet.

  • Patent number: 4106180
Abstract: Sheet metal pieces are riveted together by punching a hole through the pieces with a rivet the shank of which is driven through them, into an oversize female die, and to a cutter, the pieces being deformed into the die, and the penetrating end of the rivet shank being divided into a number of sections by the cutter, which also spreads these sections apart, the diameter of the die being such that the spread sections of the divided rivet shank may be withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 4019238
Abstract: Sheet material pieces are riveted together by punching a hole in the pieces with a rivet driven through them and into an oversize female die, which is then moved to move the penetrated pieces towards the head of the rivet. The rivet is further advanced so that the end which has penetrated the pieces is flattened and radially enlarged against an anvil. This radially enlarged end may be withdrawn from the oversize female die.
