  • Patent number: 5215074
Abstract: A range with a lift-up cooktop is provided with an integrally formed non-metallic combination cooktop locator and support rod race member to position the cooktop relative to the rang body when the lift-up cooktop is in its lowered position and to provide a non-metallic bearing surface for the support rod to slide against when the lift-up cooktop is raised and lowered.

  • Patent number: 4862795
Abstract: A cooking appliance equipped for indoor grilling includes an integrally formed, sheet metal reflector pan interposed between the grill member and the drip pan. The reflector pan has a bottom wall which extends beneath the heating element and four generally upwardly extending side walls to shield the area laterally adjacent the grill area from the radiant energy of the heating element. The reflector pan is configured between its corners to define an air gap between the reflector pan and the adjacent cooktop which provides an air flow path between the area above the cooktop and the area between the drip pan and the reflector pan. When the heating element is energized cooling air is drawn by convection from above the cooktop downwardly through the air gap into the area between the drip pan and the reflector pan and upwardly through narrow slots in the bottom of the reflector pan.

  • Patent number: 4633850
Abstract: A domestic cooking appliance vent system including a first vertical vent conduit communicating with the oven, extending through a support plate, and a second vertical conduit that is located above the first conduit but horizontally offset therefrom. A horizontal adapter duct positioned in a locating area on the support plate joins the first vent conduit with the second vent conduit. The adapter duct includes a continuous side wall, a top wall forming an open bottom positioned over the first vertical duct and a top vent opening in one end of the top wall communicating with the second vertical conduit. The support area and adapter duct is dimensioned so that its position in the locating area insures that the top vent opening in the adapter duct is axially aligned with the second vertical conduit.

  • Patent number: 4504719
Abstract: A latch assembly in a cabinet having a front opening with a door movably mounted to the cabinet for selectively closing the opening. There is a latch secured to the door and projecting from the rear surface of the door and a mounting member attached to the cabinet having a latch receiving strike plate and a resilient finger. The mounting member is pivotally mounted at one end thereof to a rigid cabinet member with the resilient finger abutting the cabinet and biased in a direction away from the door in its closed position. The latch and mounting member strike plate cooperate to tightly retain the door in its closed position by the biasing effect of the resilient finger. The mounting member is secured against pivotal movement thereof when the latch and mounting member strike plate cooperate to tightly retain the door in its closed position.

  • Patent number: 4453065
Abstract: A microwave oven door aligning assembly is provided and includes a centering prong rigidly mounted on the door of the oven and projecting beyond the inside surface of the door. A clip is mounted to the oven behind the front face of the oven cavity and the clip has an opening in alignment with an opening in the front face. A centering prong receiving receptacle having a rigid square body portion is removably inserted into the clip opening and secured to the clip. The receptacle has a square opening to receive the centering prong which opening is offset from the center of the receptacle such that two opposite sides of the opening are equal distance from the center and the other two opposite sides of the opening are of unequal distance from the center. With this arrangement the receptacle may be rotatably installed to assure proper parallel alignment of the door relative to the top and bottom cabinet walls by cooperation between the centering prong and the receptacle.
