  • Patent number: 9291656
Abstract: A calibration device for sensing probes includes a housing; a test resistor within the housing; and probe holder by means of which the sensing probe's electrodes can be brought into electrical contact with the test resistor. The test resistor provides a known or a knowable test resistance between the sensing probe's electrodes. In an embodiment having a variable-resistance test resistor, the device includes an access point at which resistance across the test resistor can be measured using an ohm meter. Furthermore, the device includes one or more access points at which resistance, as measured by the sensing probe, can be measured using an ohm meter; using a monitoring device to which the sensing probe ordinarily is connected when in use; or, in some cases, using either.

  • Publication number: 20070113900
Abstract: An automatic shutoff valve is provided. The valve is preferably constructed of a check valve (which is normally shut) and a shutoff valve which is open during static, no-flow, operation. Upon initiation of flow, even a drip flow, the check valve opens, and the pressure differential from the inlet to the outlet causes a piston in the shutoff valve to move toward a shut position. As long as the pressure differential stops before the piston closes, the shutoff valve resets to the fully open position. However, if the shutoff valve shuts, it preferably must be manually reset.

  • Publication number: 20060151715
Abstract: A water treatment tank for use with water purification apparatus including an ultra-violet lamp within an encapsulating sleeve onto which incoming water is directed to provide a thin laminar flow about the bulb. The lower compartment has cooling coils about the walls for cooling the water therein relative to the water in the upper compartment. A surrounding sleeve may be located intermediate the encapsulating sleeve and an outer vessel in the tank. A leak detector is located in the encapsulating sleeve. The leak detector and outer vessel are believed to provide safety to users in the event of internal breakage in the tank. A reflective surface is also utilized to direct UV light into portions of the faucets formerly obscured from UV treatment. The faucets preferably provide self-sanitizing capability and an information center selectively displays time until next service, cost savings over bottled water and information related to the dispenser.

  • Publication number: 20050239018
Abstract: An intraoral apparatus for illuminating a patient's mouth includes a bite spacer having a pair of teeth engaging structures vertically spaced apart by a spacer structure that includes a side wall. At least one self-contained light emitting device is operably mounted in the side wall of the bite spacer. The bite spacer is positionable between the teeth on either side of the patient's mouth such that the light emitting devices illuminate the other side of the patient's mouth. In one embodiment, a rechargeable battery is positioned within the bite spacer to power the light emitting devices. An induction charging circuit recharges the rechargeable battery without connections external to the bite spacer. In another embodiment, the bite spacers are adapted to interface with a recharging and sterilizing base station.

  • Patent number: 5861840
Abstract: An antenna system is comprised of a plurality of independently constructed and operated antenna units, upon which are mounted a plurality of transmit and receive antenna pairs. This structure provides a means for the antenna system to be arranged to provide substantially hemispherical radio coverage. By adjusting the phase of each version of a radio signal to the transmitter or received, the signal may be formed into a beam according to known techniques of directional beam forming providing the antenna system with directional gain. Additionally, using a plurality of transmit and receive antenna pairs reduces the energy transmitted by each transmit antenna alone to a level which permits a branch line coupler to be sufficient to orthogonally polarize the transmitted and received radio signals negating the requirement for the duplexing filter for duplex operation.
