  • Patent number: 8945327
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sandwich component, which comprises a honeycomb core (1) having a plurality of webs (1?) and at least one cover layer (2, 3), wherein the honeycomb core (1) is made of a cellulose-based material, in particular paper. The cover layer (2, 3) is formed from a fiber-reinforced semifinished product having a thermoplastic material matrix, wherein the webs (1?) of the honeycomb core (1) are partially received into the thermoplastic material matrix of the cover layer (2, 3) at connection points (A) to the cover layer (2, 3) so that the sandwich component is bonded. The invention further relates to production methods for the sandwich component.

  • Publication number: 20130236688
Abstract: A sandwich component with a moisture barrier and a method for the production thereof. The sandwich component has at least one top layer (2) and one honeycomb core. The top layer (2) has a cover layer (2a) made from reinforcing fibres with a thermoplastic matrix, and the honeycomb has a cellulose-based material and has a plurality of webs (1). The top layer (2) has a barrier layer (2c) made from a thermoplastic material, the melting properties corresponding to the melting properties of the cover layer. An intermediate layer (2b) between the cover layer (2a) and the barrier layer (2c) has reinforcing fibres made from the cover layer (2a) and thermoplastic material of the barrier layer (2c). The reinforcing fibres are permeated by one proportion of the thermoplastic matrix material of the cover layer (2a) and by one proportion of the thermoplastic material of the barrier layer (2c).

  • Publication number: 20070267784
Abstract: The dimensions of objects produced by means of layer-structuring methods keep increasing while said objects get heavier and are thus less easy to handle and transport. Fine structures can even break off the whole body as a result of the intrinsic weight thereof. The aim of the invention is therefore to create a layer-structuring method for producing a three-dimensional object as well as suitable material systems which improve the manageability and transportability thereof without imposing substantial restrictions regarding the variety of selectable materials and the stability of the components. Said aim is achieved by using particles that contain at least one cavity, whereby the solid body volume and thus the weight is reduced compared to massive particles without substantially reducing stability.

  • Publication number: 20070202391
Abstract: A porous carbon electrode as well as a process for manufacture thereof enables large freedom in design with respect to shape and porosity of the electrode. The process includes these steps: applying a layer of carbon particles upon a target surface; radiating of a selected part of the layer, corresponding to the cross section of the electrode, with a beam of energy or with a stream of liquid, so that the particles in the selected part are joined or bonded to their respective neighbors, wherein micropores remain between the neighbors; repeating the steps of applying and radiating for a plurality of layers, so that the joined or bonded parts of the adjacent layers are bonded, in order to produce an electrode.

  • Patent number: 6375881
Abstract: A process for the preparation of fiber-reinforced plastic molding includes (1) shortening the fibers to a length of less than 30 mm; (2) introducing the fibers and the plastics present in the solid state, separately from one another, into a mixing chamber of a die press, wherein the plastic is in particulate form; (3) thoroughly mixing the plastic and fibers to give a solids mixture; (4) transporting the solids mixture through die orifices of the die press; (5) heating the solids mixture in the zone before or in the orifices of the die; (6) enclosing at least part or partly embedding the fibers by the plastic during or after the heating of the solids mixture; and (7) comminuting the granulated material for subsequent molding.

  • Patent number: 6184272
Abstract: A fiber-reinforced molded plastic part, a process for its manufacture and a use. The fiber-reinforced molded plastic part consists of a plastic matrix with natural fibers particularly arranged in a uniformly distributed manner in the plastic matrix. The plastic matrix has at least two mutually mixed polymers, of which one is a biopolymer and the other is a polymer which is at least largely resistant to biological stress.

  • Patent number: 5647544
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the single type recovery of plastic materials from starting pieces of a multiple composite material is disclosed. The starting pieces are firstly comminuted mechanically into particles of a size compatible with the process. These composite materials particularly are separated and a mixture of different materials is produced and, from this material mixture, the individual materials are isolated. For the recovery of starting pieces of prepreg fabric from flexible cutting residues, lined with films on both sides, the following steps are performed in sequence. First, the starting pieces are comminuted by cutting them up into shreds of composite material. Then the shreds of composite material are cooled down to temperatures below room temperature and, in a cold state, are subjected to a mechanical alternating bending stress and/or a shearing stress, the films becoming detached from the prepreg pieces in a scale-like manner to form a mixture.
