  • Publication number: 20030007148
Abstract: An optical channel monitor is provided that sequentially or selectively filters an optical channel(s) 11 of light from a (WDM) optical input signal 12 and senses predetermined parameters of the each filtered optical signal (e.g., channel power, channel presence, signal-noise-ratio). The OCM 10 is a free-space optical device that includes a collimator assembly 15, a diffraction grating 20 and a mirror 22. A launch pigtail emits into free space the input signal through the collimator assembly 15 and onto the diffraction grating 20, which separates spatially each of the optical channels 11 of the collimated light, and reflects the separated channels of light onto the mirror 22. A &lgr;/4 plate 26 is disposed between the mirror 22 and the diffraction grating 20. The mirror reflects the separated light back through the &lgr;/4 plate 26 to the diffraction grating 20, which reflects the channels of light back through the collimating lens 18.

  • Publication number: 20020121743
Abstract: A seal structure is provided for a downhole tool. In a described embodiment, a seal structure includes a seal support ring having at least one annular groove formed thereon and a longitudinal axis. At least one seal is included in the seal structure. The seal is disposed at least partially in the groove, and the seal is bonded to the ring. An annular recess is positioned longitudinally between opposing side walls of the groove. The recess may be formed in a body of the seal.

  • Patent number: 6342145
Abstract: Methods of producing aluminum picture frames having two regions of different colors. Aluminum frame stock is coated with a colored maskant or paint. Selective regions of the coated frame stock are abraded, and then anodized and dyed a second color absorbed by the exposed regions. In a second embodiment, aluminum frame stock is etched, anodized, and dyed a first color. The frame stock is then selectively abraded to remove regions of the first color, and then anodized and dyed a second color so the abraded regions absorb the second color. In a third embodiment, the frame stock is first etched, anodized, and dyed a first color. Selective areas of the frame stock are protected using an etch-resistant mask and is then etched stripping the unmasked regions of the first color and then anodized again and dyed a second color absorbed by the unmasked regions. The mask is then chemically removed.

  • Patent number: 6103944
Abstract: Water present in a hot gaseous product stream from a reactor system A.B (FIG. 1) containing hydrogen fluoride is separated from the stream in order to eliminate a potentially corrosive combination of water and HF. The water is removed by contacting the gaseous product stream with liquid HF in a distillation column so as to obtain a bottoms product containing liquid HF and water and a top product containing dry HF and the product to be recovered. The invention encompasses the separation process, a vessel for carrying out the process (FIGS. 2 to 4), a control system for the liquid HF supply to the distillation column (FIGS. 5 and 6) and a recovery system for recovering HF employed during operation of the reactor system in different regimes employing HF as a fluorination agent, as a diluent during catalyst regeneration and/or catalyst prefluorination (FIG. 7).

  • Patent number: 5903963
Abstract: A crimping machine for securing an elongated frame member to a clip comprises a base that has an upper portion. A table is attached to the upper portion of the base. A foot-operated lever is pivotally attached to the base between a rest position and a depressed position. A crimping assembly is mounted to the table and includes a backstop for supporting a frame member and a clip, and a crimping die which is adapted to crimp a selected portion of the frame member into the clip. The crimping die is movable between a rest position wherein it is located remote from the backstop and a crimping position wherein its is located adjacent to the backstop. Translation means is provided for translating movement of the foot-operated lever from its rest position to its depressed position into corresponding movement of the crimping die from its rest position to its crimping position. The result is that movement of the foot-operated lever forces selective portions of the frame into the clip.

  • Patent number: 4589067
Abstract: A full floating point vector processor includes a master processing unit having DMA I/O means, a wide bandwidth data memory having static RAM and/or interleaved dynamic RAM, an address generator operative to provide address generation for data loaded in the data memory, a concurrently operating pipeline control sequencer operative to provide fully programmable horizontal format microinstructions synchronously with the addresses generated by the address generator, and a pipelined arithmetic and logical unit responsive to the addressed data and to the synchronously provided microinstructions and operative to evaluate one of a user selectable plurality of computationally intensive functions. The address generator, the pipeline controlsequencer, and the master processing unit are configured in parallel. The address generator includes means operative to provide pipeline input and output data dependent address generation.
