    Abstract: A method and assembly provide a feed roller that is designed to slip when a foreign object, not designed to be fed by the feed roller, engages the feed roller. One or more rollers are mounted on a shaft and have a grooved surface spring pressed into engagement with a pin extending radially outwardly from the shaft. When a force is applied to the circumference of the roller greater than the force applied by a spring which biases the grooved surface into contact with the pin, the roller will slip, and substantially stop rotating. Since the shaft continues to be driven, if the foreign object is removed the next time the grooved surface is aligned with the pin it will be biased into engagement with the pin so that that roller automatically starts to rotate and provide a feeding action again.

    Abstract: A code break mechanism preferably employed in a stacker apparatus. The stacker apparatus has a support housing, a deck fixably mounted to and supported by the housing, a registration wall fixably mounted to the housing and extending generally perpendicular to the deck. A deflector plate is pivotally mounted in an opening in the registration wall. A rotary solenoid in communication with a linkage train causes the deflector plate to be selectively positionable from a first position coplanar with the registration wall to a second position pivotally displaced from the registration wall.

    Abstract: A power stacker for collecting delivered articles such as envelopes from a mailing machine is comprised of a support housing having a deck fixably mounted along the housing. A registration wall is fixably mounted to the housing and extending generally perpendicular relative to the deck. A stack wall is slidably mounted to the housing at one end of the deck and has a reclined surface extended generally upwardly from the deck, the stack wall being slidably mounted to the housing such that the stack wall can be horizontally displaced relative to the deck. Support rods are provided for providing article support between the deck and displaced stack wall as well as between the registration and displaced stack wall. Threaded hubs are provided for causing the delivered articles to be collected against the stack wall and assume a generally parallel stacked orientation generally parallel to the reclined surface.

    Abstract: A compact facsimile transceiver occupying minimum space includes a straight-line transmitter section and a receiver section disposed beneath a portion of the transmitter. The transmitter transports documents through its scanner section, one by one in essentially a straight line by means of simplified and improved paper-handling apparatus which holds the documents flat. An editor in the transmitter permits segments of the documents being transmitted to be selectively deleted from the transmission. The receiver includes a simple and efficient paper-cutter mechanism and paper-transporting apparatus.

    Abstract: The cassette of the invention comprises a plastic tray having at one end an array of projecting curved fingers and an auxiliary member having an array of curved fingers, with the auxiliary member adapted to seat on the base so that the curved fingers of the base form a smooth curve with the curved fingers of the auxiliary member. Before the auxiliary member is seated on the base, a plurality of separator sheets to be carried thereby are secured to the base by means of holes which are threaded on the first curved fingers. The auxiliary member is then seated in place, and ultrasonic vibrations are applied to heat and fuse the separate fingers to form unitary continuous curved rings which hold the sheets in place.
