  • Patent number: 9317202
Abstract: A keyboard overlay for use with a virtual touch screen keyboard, and associated systems and methods are disclosed. In accordance with one embodiment of the present technology, a keyboard is overlaid over a plurality of virtual keys that have virtual key centers laterally spaced apart from each other. The keyboard can have a base configured to be coupled to the virtual touch screen keyboard and a plurality of overlay key structures corresponding to the virtual keys. The overlay key centers of the individual overlay key structures have overlay key centers, and at least a subset of the overlay key structures can be arranged such that the overlay key centers of the subset are offset relative to the virtual key centers of the corresponding virtual keys.

  • Patent number: 8790025
Abstract: A keyboard overlay for use on a touch screen is disclosed, as well as novel key structures for use on overlays. The keyboard overlay and key structures have novel structures which can provide finger resting resistance, deceleration during actuation, pre-actuation cues, finger positioning cues, key identification cues, and other desired aspects of a keyboard optimized for touch typing. Methods for stowing and deploying the keyboard overlay to align with the virtual keyboard of a touch screen are also disclosed. • Publication number: 20050214331
Abstract: Disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions suitable for oral administration of bioactive peptides. Particularly, the pharmaceutical compositions comprise peptides formulated as suspensions stabilized with a dispersing agent. The compositions may be encapsulated in capsules for oral administration. The compositions show improved dissolution characteristics, which are believed to make them suitable for use in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders.

  • Patent number: 6249717
Abstract: A liquid medication dispenser apparatus which provides for user-friendly medication measurement and compliance. The apparatus measures and dispenses liquid medication doses and records the time and dose sizes for up to one year. The recorded information can then be downloaded to a personal computer for evaluation of patient compliance. A disposable, motor driven pump is used to provide a very wide range of medication dispensation volumes, while maintaining full accuracy and reducing the risks of patient errors as might occur with a manual dispense system.

  • Patent number: 5818582
Abstract: A phase fluorometer employs a baseband frequency generator to generate a sample baseband signal at a first frequency f.sub.o and a reference signal correlated to the sample baseband signal. A second signal generator generates a carrier signal having a second frequency f. The sample baseband signal and the carrier signal are combined to form an up-converted sample signal having a frequency f.+-.f.sub.o. A light source is modulated at the up-converted sample signal frequency f.+-.f.sub.o to illuminate a sample. A photo detector detects fluorescence emissions from a sample excited by the excitation light and converts the emission into a fluorescence signal. A down-converter combines the carrier signal and fluorescence signal to form a phase-shifted and down-converted sample signal. A processor digitally processes the phase-shifted and demodulated sample signal and the reference signal to determine the fluorescence lifetime.

  • Patent number: 4258435
Abstract: Bandpass channel filters are connected to a uniform impedance manifold. Immittance compensation is provided in a way that preserves the canonic form of the network while at the same time serving to separate the filters (channels) along the manifold. The manifold forms a phase shifter between each channel which is sufficient to compensate for filter interactions to thereby permit the design of contiguous or non-contiguous channel multiplexers. Design procedures are described for both a frequency independent manifold and a frequency dependent manifold. One design is of a waveguide WR229 manifold triplexer employing 37 MHz bandwidth 6-cavity Chebyshev filters having ripple return loss of 26dB (VSWR=1.1) with center frequencies at 3720, 3800 and 3880 MHz.

  • Patent number: 4127829
Abstract: Under non-fault conditions the power from two equal power transmitters A and B having a relative phasing of 90.degree. is combined in the network of this invention to provide at an output thereof a power of A + B. The network preferably comprises two 3db short-slot 90.degree. couplers connected in cascade with the first coupler normally operating and the second coupler shorted or decoupled in the coupling slot region by means of shorting posts or the like. If transmitter B fails this condition is sensed and the second coupler has its associated decoupling means withdrawn so that the couplers form a zero db cross-over coupler delivering the total power of transmitter A to the output. For a failure condition of transmitter A a decoupling means is also associated with the first coupler so the entire network can be decoupled delivering the total power of transmitter B to the output under that condition. With a failure of either transmitter A or B there is the possibility of inoperation of the decoupling means.

  • Patent number: 4044353
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring liquid level. A generated broad-band swept-frequency C.W. microwave signal (2-4 GHz) is upverted to a high frequency band signal (34-36 GHz), which is transmitted towards, and reflected from, a liquid surface. The reflected signal is downverted to the frequency band of the original generated signal, and then the phase difference between the original and downverted signals is measured by a microwave phase discriminator and a quantizer, which generates video pulses proportional to the total phase shift across the swept C.W. band. During an adjacent sweep in the same direction, the original signal is compared with a signal transmitted through a calibration cable equivalent to a known free-space path length.
