    Abstract: A polyarylate is formed by reacting a mixture of a diester of a dihydric phenol, at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid and an inert diluent comprising a poly(fluorinated alkylene oxide). Polyarylates of improvided color can be formed and the diluent can be easily separated from the polyarylate and reaction byproducts.
