  • Publication number: 20070148429
Abstract: Disclosed are a series of composite polymer composite structures formed by the coextrusion of at least two distinct polymeric components. A first polymeric component includes a structural composition and a second polymeric component includes a coating composition. The primary structural frame formed from the structural composition includes at least one longitudinal recess. These recesses may be filled with a third polymeric composition that may include wood byproducts and/or a blowing agent. The first polymeric component may include reinforcing fibers at least partially coated with a size composition that includes a film forming agent, a lubricant, one or more additives, and first and second coupling agents. The additives may be chosen to achieve selective or desired properties in the end product.

  • Publication number: 20070141316
Abstract: Disclosed are a series of composite polymer composite structures formed by the coextrusion of at least two distinct polymeric compositions including a structural composition and a coating composition whereby the primary structural frame formed from the structural composition includes at least one, and typically a plurality, of longitudinal recesses or cavities. These recesses or cavities may, in turn, be filled with a third distinct polymeric composition that may include wood byproducts and/or a foaming or blowing agent.

  • Publication number: 20070032157
Abstract: A chopped strand mat formed of bundles reinforcin fibers and individual reinforcing fibers is provided. The chopped strand mat may be engineered to contain pre-selected amounts of bundles of reinforcement fibers and/or individual reinforcement fibers to select or enhance a particular feature of the chopped strand mat. In at least one embodiment, the reinforcing fibers are wet use chopped strand glass fibers. The reinforcing fibers are at least partially coated with a size composition that maintains bundle integrity during the formation of the mat and assists in filamentizing the bundles during subsequent processing steps in order to form chopped strand mat that gives an aesthetically pleasing look to the finished product. The retention of fiber bundles within the chopped strand mat creates a mat with a higher glass content per volume than conventional dispersed fiber mats. This increased glass content provides improved mechanical and impact performance to the final products.

  • Patent number: 5875599
Abstract: An insulation panel has a modular thermal insulation vacuum panel and a frame structure secured to the outer periphery. An outer edge portion of the panel and frame assembly is provided with a profile and is adapted to mate with an edge of an adjacent thermal insulation panel and frame assembly. Profile members may be inserted between insulation panels to form a wall assembly. Insulation panels have a central portion of reduced thickness so as to allow for application of conduits. The modular thermal insulation vacuum panel has insulating media enclosed within spaced panel segments.
