  • Patent number: 7479879
Abstract: A security device for preventing removal and theft of valuable devices includes an alarm that is coupled to a cable. At a distal end of the cable, a locking device is provided. The locking device is coupled to a valuable device. The other end of the cable is coupled to the alarm. The alarm includes a power source. A lock plate is placed over the power source. The cable is routed through the alarm and through the lock plate prior to coupling the locking device to the portable electronic device. With the cable through the alarm and the lock plate, the lock plate cannot be removed and thus, the power source is inaccessible. A wire loop runs through the cable and is coupled to the alarm such that if the cable is cut, the circuit is broken and the alarm sounds.

  • Patent number: 7204106
Abstract: An apparatus for attaching to a first wall that defines a security aperture. The apparatus comprises a housing defining a longitudinal axis and a locking flange extending from the housing on a shaft and having a profile that is complimentary to the security aperture, such that the locking flange has a first orientation relative to the security aperture for insertion into and removal from the security aperture, and a second orientation relative to the security aperture for retention within the security aperture. The locking flange is transformable between the first orientation and the second orientation. The apparatus further includes a locking member that is coupled to the housing and is cooperative with the locking flange for inhibiting transformation of the locking flange from the second orientation to the first orientation. The apparatus further comprises at least one leg that is parallel to the first wall.

  • Publication number: 20060123242
Abstract: A security system configured to secure a portable electronic device is provided. The system includes a biometric device configured to receive a biometric identification from a user. The biometric identification may be received by, for example, scanning a fingerprint or iris of a user. Other biometric identifications may also be appreciated. The biometric device is configured to determine a verification result based on the received biometric identification. The verification may be performed by comparing the received biometric identification with a stored biometric identification for the user. The biometric device may then send a verification result through a wireless connection to a wireless module. The wireless module is then configured to automatically actuate a security device to lock/ unlock the security device to/from the portable electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20060081021
Abstract: A security device is disclosed. The security device includes a casing including a front opening. A securing member is coupled to the casing. A movable locking member extends outward when the security device is in a locked configuration and is retracted inward when the security device is in an unlocked configuration. A locking mechanism in the security device can keep the movable locking member in the locked configuration. A button passing through the casing can be depressed or otherwise moved to cause the movable locking member to retract, to thereby put the security device in an unlocked configuration.
