  • Patent number: 5620943
Abstract: A process is provided for identifying a location to which a substance has been applied, which comprises incorporating into said substance prior to its application to said location an alkyleneoxy substituted fugitive colorant ingredient in an amount sufficient to identify the location to which the substance is to be applied; and thereafter applying said substance to said location.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 1, 1995
Date of Patent: April 15, 1997
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation
    Inventor: Ralph N. Brendle
  • Patent number: 5387745
Abstract: A process for identifying the location to which an agricultural chemical composition has been applied whereby a water soluble, alkyleneoxy substituted fugitive colorant is added to said agricultural chemical composition prior to its application. The colorant is nontoxic to aquatic life and may be used within the watershed of a body of water having aquatic life. Preferred colorants include alkyleneoxy substituted triphenylmethane and azo dyes.

  • Patent number: 4400320
Abstract: Fugitive tints are provided which are characterized by the formula: ##STR1## where R is selected from meta-toluidene, meta-amino phenol, aniline or dimethoxy aniline A is selected from N, O, S, or CO.sub.2 ; the alkylene group of the alkyleneoxy constituent contains from 2 to about 4 carbon atoms; n is an integer of from 2 to about 300; m is 1 when A is O, S, or CO.sub.2, and 2 when A is N; x is an integer of from 1 to about 5; and the product of n times m times x (n.multidot.m.multidot.x) is from 2 to about 400. Also provided is a process for preparing alkyleneoxy fugitive tints.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 13, 1981
Date of Patent: August 23, 1983
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation
Inventors: Margaret S. Keller, Ralph N. Brendle
  • Patent number: 4263009
Abstract: A method for improving the dyeing characteristics of textile materials containing polyolefin fibers is provided wherein the polyolefin fibers are coated with a coating composition consisting essentially of a film forming component containing at least one quaternary ammonium group. A preferred coating composition useful in the practice of the invention further includes a wetting agent and a minor effective amount of a fluorocarbon surfactant. Procedure for forming such coating compositions, application of same to polyolefin fibers, as well as dyeing of the coated polyolefin fibers is disclosed. In one embodiment the film forming component is the reaction product of a chemical substance containing at least one quaternary ammonium group and at least two amino groups having active hydrogen and a polyepoxide having at least two 1,2-epoxy groups per molecule. A method for producing such a film forming component and application of same to a textile material containing polyolefin fibers is also set forth.

  • Patent number: 4170564
Abstract: Refrigerants, refrigeration oils and refrigerant-refrigeration oil mixtures containing a substantially hydrophobic polyoxypropyleneamine substituted anthraquinone dyes having the structure ##STR1## wherein R is an alkylene moiety containing at least 1 carbon atom, R' is a member of the group consisting of NH.sub.2, OH, NCOR", OCOR" and OR" wherein R" is an alkyl moiety containing from 1 to about 18 carbon atoms, and wherein n is an integer having an average of at least about 6.

  • Patent number: 4167510
Abstract: Improved fugitive tints are provided wherein such tints are characterized as having from 2 to about 300 repeating alkyleneoxy capped units in the molecule and having a dyestuff molecule attached to the alkyleneoxy capped units. The solubility of the tint compositions can be altered by varying the number of alkyleneoxy capped units in the tint molecule. The fugitive tints are characterized by the formulaR{A--(alkyleneoxy constituent).sub.n R.sub.1 ].sub.m }.sub.xwherein R--A is an organic dyestuff molecule, A is a linking moiety in said organic dyestuff molecule selected from the group consisting of N, O, S, or CO.sub.2, the alkylene moiety of the alkyleneoxy constituent contains from 2 to about 4 carbon atoms, n is an integer of from 2 to about 300, m is 1 when A is O, S, or CO.sub.2 and 2 when A is N, x is an integer of from 1 to about 5, and the product of n times m times x (n.multidot.m.multidot.x) is from 2 to about 300, and R.sub.1 is ##STR1## and sulfonates and sulfates thereof in which R.sub.
