The garment includes a layer of material that is configured to conform to a body portion of the swimmer, and a plurality of pockets that extend from the layer of material for increasing drag on the swimmer as the body portion is moved in a preselected direction of movement. At least one of the pockets has first and second conditions. In the first condition, drag is increased by that pocket on the swimmer as the body portion moves in the preselected direction of movement. In the second condition, drag is not increased by that pocket on the swimmer as the body portion moves in the preselected direction of movement.

Abstract: A training aid apparatus for swimming includes a cord with first and second ends and first, second, and third cord retention devices positioned on the cord. Each of the cord retention devices includes a through hole that receives the cord twice so as to define first, second, and third loops in the cord. The second and third loops may be secured to the legs of a swimmer such that when the swimmer kicks during swimming, the training aid apparatus limits the maximum vertical and horizontal distances that the legs can move apart from each other. Thus, the training aid apparatus encourages proper kicking form during swimming. The cord retention devices are adjustable so that the limitations imposed on the swimmer's legs can be modified for different swimming strokes.

Abstract: A training device for use in a pool having a lane guide. The training device comprises a base member shaped to cooperate with at least a portion of the lane guide, an elongated member adapted to pivot relative to the base member, and a resilient member coupling the elongated member to the base member in an initial position. The resilient member is adapted to return the elongated member to the initial position when the elongated member deviates therefrom.
