  • Publication number: 20040205514
Abstract: A hyperlink preview utility discerns user intent to display a preview of a target resource page associated with a linking control, such as a hyperlink or visit node. The preview is displayed adjacent to the linking control and may display layout and content information to a user. A preview may be displayed in a scaled down browser window. The target resource page represented by the preview may be based on a live retrieval or an archived retrieval of a previously viewed resource page. In one example, invocation of a hyperlink preview is accomplished by hovering over a hyperlink, in a manner similar to the operation for invoking a tool tip.

  • Publication number: 20040100509
Abstract: A web page partitioning module discovers and delineates logical sections within a web page creating a partition of the page. A logical section reformatting module reformats an individual logical section of the web page to fit within an incompatible display. A logical section map generation module allows a user to navigate among logical sections of a web page by displaying a map of the logical section of the web page and allowing a user to select a desired logical section for display. The web page partitioning module, the logical section reformatting module, and the logical section map generation module may reside on a client device or a server device, such as a proxy server or web server or embedded in the document authoring tools.

  • Publication number: 20040100510
Abstract: A resource search tool provides important context assistance and control for viewing resources on an incompatible display, such as a handheld display. A handheld device, for example, does not provide a large enough display space to provide a quick and comfortable search tool interface for a user. The search tool provides annotated search result pages and search result target pages to signify search hits in one or more documents or logical unites of the individual documents. In addition, progress indicators are provided to inform the user of the progress of the background layout and linguistic processing used to annotate for each search result target page.

  • Publication number: 20040003351
Abstract: A browser session navigation tool allows a user to browse previously viewed resource pages during a browser session. Each visit to a resource page results in creation of a visit data structure that references (directly or indirectly) the resource page content. The previously viewed resource pages are graphically represented by navigationally related visit nodes displayed in one or more trails or trees, which graphically illustrate the navigation from resource page to resource page. Resource page content may be displayed in the visit nodes, such as a thumbnail image of the resource page. In contrast to typical browser history lists, navigation branches are not truncated. Instead, all previously viewed resource pages are recorded in archive data storage and are displayed in linear trails and branching tree structures of visit nodes.

  • Publication number: 20040001104
Abstract: A browser sessions search tool allows a user to search through records of previously viewed resource pages, even across multiple browser sessions. Each visit to a resource page results in creation of a visit data structure that references the resource page content. A rich assortment of data is recorded for each visited resource page, such as full text and layout data, time of access and navigation type that lead to the page.
