  • Publication number: 20090077906
Abstract: Trailer shelters having foam head and side members are described herein. An over road trailer shelter configured in accordance with one embodiment includes a flexible head curtain configured to extend horizontally along a top portion of an opening in a warehouse or other building. The flexible head curtain can include at least one fabric flap hingeably attached to an exterior surface of a base fabric layer. The fabric flap is configured to protect the head member from damage resulting from repeated trailer contact. A trailer enclosure configured in accordance with another embodiment includes a head member that extends horizontally between first and second side members. Each of the side members and the head member includes a compressible foam portion covered by a fabric portion. • Publication number: 20090045649
Abstract: Door gap seals and seal assemblies for over road trailers and other over road cargo carriers are disclosed herein. An over road trailer configured in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes a door rotatably mounted to a container body proximate an opening. The door moves between a closed position in which the door at least partially covers the opening, and an open position in which the door is spaced apart from the opening to form a gap therebetween. The over road trailer further includes a seal attached to at least one of the door and the container body. The seal is at least partially compressed and/or deflected between the door and the container body to seal the gap when the door is in the open position.

  • Patent number: 6073402
Abstract: A portable dock seal including a bottom portion adapted to be positioned on a surface, two side walls extending upward from opposing sides of the bottom portion at an angle of at least 20.degree. and less than 90.degree. relative to the bottom portion, and end walls interconnecting the bottom portion with the side walls. Preferably, the bottom portion, side walls, and end walls form an outer shell made from a flexible material (e.g., vinyl-coated polyester fabric), and the outer shell encloses a flexible core material. The flexible core material includes both a resilient material (e.g., open cell polyurethane foam) and a flexible material (e.g., strips of the same type of material as the outer shell). The outer shell includes vent openings to allow air to exit and enter the seal when the seal is compressed and released. The seal can also include a handle secured to the outer shell and adapted to be engaged by a user to facilitate lifting of the body member. A flexible tether can be secured to the seal (e.g.

  • Patent number: 5125196
Abstract: A dock seal header to be secured over a doorway in a loading dock. The header includes a panel or sheet of flexible material having an upper edge which is secured to the dock above the doorway. The header extends down to partially enclose the upper end of the doorway. A plurality of horizontal slabs or bars of a compressible material, such as foam plastic, are mounted in vertically spaced relation to the panel. A cable and pulley system is attached to the lower edge of the panel. The panel can be pulled up to a generally curved configuration through the cable system and is adapted to drape against the top of a truck parked in front of the loading dock. The side edges of the header panel are connected to the header pad cover by releasable fasteners, such as a hook and loop arrangement. As the panel is pulled upwardly, the fasteners will release and as the panel lowers, the fasteners will automatically re-engage.
