  • Publication number: 20020046067
Abstract: A system and method of selling reinsurance includes identifying a reinsurance product and a capacity of the reinsurance product to be sold and calculating a fair risk price for the reinsurance product. The reinsurance product is then offered to potential buyers via an electronic auction, wherein a minimum bid in the electronic auction is determined, at least in part, by the fair risk price. Bids are received from the buyers for portions of the capacity of the reinsurance product and are ranked in accordance with a calculated profitability value and/or time of receipt. Buyers are notified of a status of their respective bids, and particularly, whether bids have been tentatively accepted, partially accepted, or excluded, i.e., rejected. Upon notification of bid status, buyers are given the opportunity to modify bid parameters in an attempt to have their bids ranked at higher a level, thereby increasing the chance of the bid being accepted.

  • Patent number: 6151022
Abstract: Displayed inconsistencies and errors within a visual resource (e.g., dialog, menu) and between two visual resources are automatically detected without requiring the execution of an application having either of the visual resources. When a source application is localized, its visual resources are extracted and translated into the target language. This translation of the visual resources often causes errors in the visual display. The visual resource analyzer of the invention identifies these errors without requiring execution of either the source or localized versions of the application, which enables the errors to be easily corrected. Furthermore, the elements of a visual resource are analyzed for display anomalies, such as alignment errors and overlapping other elements.

  • Patent number: 5925300
Abstract: A process for making shaped articles from nylon polymer by melting the polymer and forming the molten polymer into articles is improved by adding to the polymer at least about 5 ppm of an additive compound selected from the group consisting of magnesium, calcium and zinc salts of aliphatic dicarboxylic acids having 2 to 14 carbon atoms.

  • Patent number: 4479578
Abstract: A single barrel two compartment assembly for medicaments comprising an elongated cylindrical hollow barrel having a normally sealed discharge end, a bypass plunger made of a pliable resilient material having a forward section of a diameter slightly greater than the diameter of the barrel, means defining a seat in the bypass plunger, a plunger rod having a tip engageable in said seat for actuating said bypass plunger axially in said barrel and seal means for sealing the open end of the said barrel remote from said discharge end, said bypass plunger normally dividing said barrel into a first compartment to one side of the bypass plunger for a powder medicament and a diluent compartment on the opposite side of said bypass plunger, actuation of said bypass plunger in one direction creating internal diluent pressure whereby said diluent bypasses the periphery of said plunger to mix with said powder medicament.

  • Patent number: 4180069
Abstract: A plunger rod and piston for a syringe which are easily and quickly assembled with a minimum force. The plunger rod has a tip of truncated "christmas tree" shape and the piston, which is of a flexible resilient material, has a pocket of complementary shape to receive the plunger tip. The tip includes a series of frusto conical segments of decreasing cross-wise dimension from the base to the terminal end of the tip thereby defining a plurality of circumferentially extending, axially spaced radially directed shoulders. The piston pocket has a series of frusto conical pocket sections decreasing in size from the open end thereof to define a plurality of circumferentially extending axially spaced, radially directed, flexible lips. Upon assembly of the tip in the piston pocket, the lips deflect to permit seating of the tip therein and then engage behind the radial shoulders to lock the parts together.
