  • Patent number: 12268136
Abstract: A façade cassette for supporting vegetation growth is disclosed, the façade cassette comprising a first panel and a second panel which is provided with openings for vegetation to grow through, wherein: the first panel is connectable to a supporting structure; the second panel is mounted on the first panel for movement between an installed position and an open position; the first panel and the second panel are configured to define a housing therebetween for a substrate; each panel comprises a face and two sides extending from opposing peripheral regions of the face to provide a pair of opposing sides; and each side of the pair of opposing sides of the first panel is configured to be connectable to the supporting structure. A façade system comprising a plurality of the façade cassettes and an installation method are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070109567
Abstract: The process underlies a set of three-dimensional structures which may also find utility in the studies of vision science, geometry and physics. The apparent luminance of mixtures of diffusely-reflected additive primaries (RGB) is altered by the introduction of zero (or low) light intervals. In one type of structure the intervals of darkness lie between colored regions as opaque pigments on essentially openwork structures. In a second type, the intervals of darkness are integrated between rapid successions of colored regions. In a third type the intervals of darkness are also integrated between rapid successions of colored regions but the domains of the primaries are first configured as openwork structures. When viewed under incidental white light, the objects exhibit additive primaries by diffuse reflection to stimulate sensations of secondary colors—magenta, cyan, and yellow—and tertiary colors.

  • Patent number: 6054163
Abstract: The present invention provides a bacteriocin having a molecular weight of about 4.4 kDa and methods involving the use of this bacteriocin. The bacteriocin preferably has an amino acid sequence as shown in SEQ ID NO:5 (FIG. 3). The present invention also provides a DNA molecule encoding this bacteriocin.

  • Patent number: 4619114
Abstract: An auxiliary outside air refrigeration mechanism for a refrigerated storage room comprises an air-to-air heat exchanger wherein the two air supplies are sealed from each other by a physical seal and by a positive pressure air differential between the air supplies. An inlet and outlet for one air supply is connected to receive and return storage room air and an inlet and outlet for the other air supply is connected to receive and circulate outside air. A control mechanism automatically renders the auxiliary refrigerating mechanism operational when the outside temperature is a predetermined temperature below the upper temperature limit in the storage room. The control mechanism actuates the auxiliary refrigerating mechanism at a temperature below the temperature at which the conventional mechanical refrigerating unit is actuated, thus supplementing the conventional refrigerating unit when the outside temperature is cold.

  • Patent number: 4182519
Abstract: An improved sealing ring for forming socket-type pipe joints. The ring according to the present invention has an elongate cross-section having a bulbous leading end portion and a trailing end portion having a pair of fins extending towards the respective sealing surfaces. The sealing ring provides a seal which is effective to seal a joint against internal and infiltration pressures.

  • Patent number: 3974471
Abstract: A wiper brush contact of miniature and microminiature size for use in potentiometers, variable resistors and the like, and including a plurality of densely arranged spring fingers projecting from a plate-like base portion in such angular offset relation to the plane of the base portion that the fingers are disposed in side-by-side closely spaced or even light contacting relationship but with the fingers being free to flex independently of one another to independently follow irregularities in cermet and metal film tracks of various types used in microminiature assemblies of the type contemplated; and with the base plate portion and spring contact fingers formed from a flat stamping with subsequent offsetting and orientation of the fingers relative to one another and to the base portion.
