  • Publication number: 20240085343
Abstract: Example embodiments relate to temporally modulated light emission and defect detection in light detection and ranging (lidar) devices and cameras. An example embodiment includes a method. The method includes detecting, by a first detector via an optical component, a background signal corresponding to a surrounding environment. The method also includes illuminating, by a first light source, a first portion of the optical component with a first light signal. Additionally, the method includes detecting, by the first detector when one or more defects are present in a body of the first portion of the optical component or on a surface of the first portion of the optical component, the first light signal. Further, the method includes determining, by a computing device, when one or more defects are present in the body of the first portion of the optical component or on the surface of the first portion of the optical component.

  • Patent number: 11920728
Abstract: An accessory mounting system configured to be supported by a furniture item, the accessory mounting system comprises a sleeve and a support member. The sleeve includes a body that is movable between a closed position and an open position. The body has a periphery partially surrounding a longitudinal axis and terminating at radial ends. The body has a pair of first features each positioned adjacent one of the radial ends. The support member includes a support portion and a sleeve engaging portion having a pair of second features configured to engage the pair of first features. In the closed position, a gap having a first size is formed between the pair of first features, and the pair of second features engages the pair of first features to hold the body in the closed position. In the open position, the gap has a second size larger than the first size.

  • Publication number: 20180168245
Abstract: A hip protector in accordance with at least one of the present inventions includes right and left pad assemblies, which each include a plurality of elongate pads that define respective anterior and posterior ends, extend in anterior-posterior directions, and are spaced from one another in a superior-inferior direction such that there is a gap between the anterior ends of adjacent elongate pads, and a garment on which the right and left pad assemblies are carried such that portions of the right and left pad assemblies respectively cover the right and left greater trochanters, the garment being configured to permit the size of the gap between the anterior ends of at least some of the adjacent elongate pads of the right and left pad assemblies to decrease as the wearer moves from a standing position to a sitting position.

  • Publication number: 20160099474
Abstract: An electrochemical device, such as a battery or power source, provides improved performance under stringent or extreme conditions. Such an electrochemical device for use in high temperature conditions may include at least a cathode, a lithium-based anode, a separator, and an ionic liquid electrolyte. This device also may include a current collector and housing that are electrochemically inert with respect to other components of the device. This electrochemical device may operate at temperatures ranging from 0 to 180, 200, 220, 240, and 260° C.

  • Patent number: 7828861
Abstract: A new and useful way of producing a used oil fuel mixture for a compression ignition engine is provided. A mass of used oil from which water has been substantially removed, is initially filtered, e.g. to remove particles greater than a predetermined size. The used oil is then centrifuged, under predetermined conditions to remove any remaining water and to remove particles to a predetermined size level. The drained, filtered and centrifuged used oil is then mixed with fuel (e.g. diesel fuel) in a predetermined ratio, to form a used oil fuel mixture and optionally adding an additive (e.g. a diesel fuel additive) to the used oil fuel mixture. Then, the used oil fuel mixture is centrifuged to promote mixing, and the centrifuged used oil fuel mixture is then pumped through one or more final filtering stages, to produce the used oil fuel mixture that is useful with compression ignition engines.

  • Publication number: 20050061262
Abstract: A fuel mixture for a compression ignition device is provided, comprising a mixture of used oil and fuel material in a ratio that increases the fuel efficiency of the device in comparison to the efficiency of the device when operated without the used oil. In a fuel mixture according to the present invention, the amount of used oil in the mixture is not more than 60% by volume of the mixture, is in a general target range of 25% to 60% (by volume) and is preferably about 37% to about 42% by volume. Moreover, it is preferred that the used oil is filtered at a predetermined level. The preferred filter level is a 5-micron level, followed by a plurality of passes, at low speeds, through 10-micron paper filter.
