Abstract: An apparatus that may be comprised of a processor and one or more components for supporting communication over at least a first and a second channel in a communications system is provided. The processor may be adapted to monitor a parameter associated with at least one of the first and second channels, and to place at least one of the components in a sleep mode in response to detecting a preselected aspect of the monitored parameter.
