Abstract: Polyamide compositions useful for personal care are disclosed, including film-forming concentrates and emulsions. Ethanol-based concentrates comprise a hydrophobic polyamide, which comprises a reaction product of either (a) a dimerized fatty acid, at least one C2-C4 carboxylic acid, and a polyamine component comprising ethylenediamine and 1 to 30 eq. % of one or more di- or triamines; or (b) a dimerized fatty acid, at least 50 wt. % of a C16-C22 unsaturated carboxylic acid, and at least one C2-C6 diamine. Personal care applications for the concentrates, including continuous sunscreens, fragrant body sprays or splashes, anti-acne medications, are included. Water-in-oil emulsions comprising the hydrophobic polyamides are storage-stable and provide water-resistant SPF for products such as sunscreens and body lotions.

Abstract: The present invention encompasses an oral treatment composition containing an anti-adhesion agent, preferably a cysteine protease and most preferably ficin. In another aspect, the cysteine protease is in combination with one or more ingredients, such as antibacterial agent and surfactant. The anti-adhesion agent mitigates interaction between a subject oral cavity and plaque-forming materials.

Abstract: In various embodiments, the present invention provides a tooth whitening composition comprising a peroxide composite and an orally acceptable carrier. The peroxide composite comprises a peroxide compound and a porous cross-linked polymer, preferably in the form of a microporous particulate. The peroxide compound can be sorbed onto the porous crosslinked polymer. The porous cross-linked polymer may comprise a polymerized polyunsaturated monomer selected from polyacrylates, polymethacrylates, polyitaconates, and mixtures thereof. The carrier can be non-aqueous, and can comprise a film forming material. Methods are also provided for whitening a tooth surface with the tooth whitening compositions.

Abstract: A method for improving effectiveness of an oral care agent comprises preconditioning an oral surface by wiping the surface with an absorbent fabric having impregnated therein or coated thereon an orally acceptable preconditioning agent such as an activating agent for the oral care agent, wherein the wiping transfers an activating effective amount of the preconditioning agent from the fabric to the oral surface, and thereafter applying a composition comprising the oral care agent to the oral surface.

Abstract: A stable, nonaqueous liquid tooth whitening composition comprised of an anhydrous peroxide compound dispersed in an orally acceptable mixture of an anhydrous hydrophilic polymer and an adhesion enhancer which composition when applied topically to tooth surfaces forms an adherent layer containing the peroxide compound which peroxide compound is thereafter is released from the layer to effect tooth whitening.
