  • Publication number: 20180199789
Abstract: A dishwasher appliance includes a cabinet defining a wash chamber for receipt of articles for washing. The dishwasher appliance also includes a spray arm disposed within the wash chamber and rotatable about an axis. In addition, the spray arm defines an interior and aperture providing selective fluid communication between the interior and the wash chamber. The dishwasher appliance also includes a valve positioned within the interior of the spray arm, and the valve is stationary relative to the spray arm. The spray arm is rotatable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the valve allows fluid communication between the interior and the wash chamber through the aperture. In contrast, when the spray arm is in the second position, the valve obstructs fluid communication between the interior and the wash chamber through the aperture.

  • Publication number: 20180132694
Abstract: A pump inlet assembly and method of operating a dishwasher appliance are provided. The pump inlet assembly includes an inlet conduit providing fluid communication between a sump and a pump. The inlet conduit defines an integrally formed boss which is coupled with a sensor housing using an overmolding process. A pressure sensor is positioned in the sensor housing and is protected from wash fluid by an airgap defined by the boss. The measured pressure may be used to determine the water level within the dishwasher when the pump is not operating and the suction pressure within the inlet conduit when the pump is operating. The inlet conduit, boss, pressure sensor, and pump housing may be integrally formed by injection molding and/or overmolding processes to reduce costs and the likelihood of leaks.

  • Publication number: 20180110395
Abstract: A spray assembly for a dishwasher appliance is provided. The spray assembly is pivotally mounted over a wash rack and includes one or more spinning nozzles for directing a flow of wash fluid onto articles placed within the wash rack. The spinning nozzles are rotatably mounted to the spray assembly and include one or more vanes that harness the flow of wash fluid to rotate the spinning nozzle. The spinning nozzle has one or more discharge orifices that direct the flow of wash fluid onto articles in the wash chamber in a circular pattern as the spinning nozzle rotates, resulting in better spray coverage with fewer nozzles.
