  • Publication number: 20040234995
Abstract: In a computer system for analysis of gene expression data, a gene expression database is organized in a hierarchical b-tree according to the descriptive and clinical sample attributes stored in the database. A user submits a query for searching the database and defines attributes on which to filter for each level of the b-tree. A simple search can be employed to arbitrarily group together leaf nodes depending on their attributes. The grouped leaf nodes are used as “control” and “experimental” sample sets. A t-test can be performed to test for statistically significant regulation between the control and experimental sample sets. In one embodiment, the results of the b-tree analysis are organized as a table of information which may be part of a relational database. The data in the database are encoded according to a three-state scheme based on regulation behavior.

  • Patent number: 6441151
Abstract: Compositions and methods for modulating cell cycle and cell proliferation are provided. Additionally the compositions find use in enhancing disease resistance and increasing transformation efficiency in plants. The method involves transforming a plant with a sense or antisense prohibitin sequence. The prohibitin sequence acts to regulate cell division in the plant cell. Transformed plants, plant cells, tissues, and seed are also provided having enhanced disease resistance.

  • Publication number: 20010005746
Abstract: Compositions and methods for enhancing disease resistance in plants are provided. The method involves transforming a plant with an stomatin-like sequence. The stomatin-like sequence acts to induce the plant defense response in the plant cell. A pathogen inducible promoter or alternatively a constitutive, preferably a weak constitutive, promoter is used to control the desired level of disease control in the plant.
