  • Patent number: 8118978
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement and a method of a paper machine or the like for saving energy in the drying section. According to the invention, in the drying section of a paper machine or the like in connection with a pocket space (9) between two drying cylinders (1, 2) and one turn roll (3), there are the following delimiting said pocket space (9): a first drying cylinder (1), a second drying cylinder (2), a turning suction roll (3) and a wire (5, 5a, 5b), which is arranged to travel from the first drying cylinder (1) to the turning suction roll (3) and from there on to the second drying cylinder (2). The arrangement further comprises a box-like runnability component (10) and a sealing element (19) arranged in the lower part of the runnability component (10), in the gap between the runnability component and the turning suction roll (3) in order to seal said gap and thereby to promote the operation of the turning suction roll (3).

  • Patent number: 8117765
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for sealing of a pocket space between drying cylinders (2, 3) in a paper machine or similar. In the method for sealing of the pocket space: a wire (5) is moved supported by the first and the second cylinder (2, 3, 4), a gap between the pocket space (15) and the space outside (24) it is sealed by a runnability component (6), which comprises at least a sealing surface (19, 22) and a blow nozzle (21) provided with a nozzle slot (26) of a size of 0.5-3.5 mm and elongated in the cross direction, the sealing surface (19, 22) is kept at a distance of 5-15 mm from the moving wire (5), air is blown with the blow nozzle (21) from a blow point (27) and along the sealing surface (22) towards a sealing point (16) and further via the sealing point (16) away (24) from the pocket space. The invention comprises also a runnability component (6) and a method for manufacturing the same.

  • Publication number: 20070245589
Abstract: A runnability device, for example a runnability box such as a suction box, is for achieving improved runnability of a web when the web (W) progresses supported by a wire (61) to a closing gap between a roll and the wire. The runnability device (10) is located on the side of the wire before the roll and extends over the width of the web so that there is a slot between the wire and the runnability device. The runnability device comprises devices (11) for directing a vacuum from the side of the wire over the width of the closing gap so that the vacuum in the edge area (E) of the web wire is greater than in the central area of the web wire. A characteristic feature of the invention is that the vacuum device (11) which creates the vacuum effect is adjustable in the cross-direction of the web wire.

  • Patent number: 6289607
Abstract: A method and flotation dryer unit effects drying of a web such as a coated paper web. The flotation dryer unit advantageously includes several nozzle boxes extending across the web for feeding drying air toward the web to be dried, a distribution chamber for drying air for leading the dry air into the nozzle boxes, and a suction chamber for gathering the drying air led toward the web from the web area and for directing it to the side of the web. The suction chamber is divided into an equalizing space and an air transport chamber by a perforated plate for equalizing the return air flow occurring from the web area.

  • Publication number: 20010017071
Abstract: Method and arrangement for removing dust in connection with the sheet cutter of a pulp drying machine or equivalent in which a pulp web is slit in a slitter unit into longitudinal component webs. The longitudinal component webs are further cut in a cutter unit in the cross direction into sheets. Dust formed in connection with the slitter unit and/or the cutter unit in the sheet cutter is removed by at least two dust removing devices placed in the vicinity of the slitter unit and/or the cutter unit.

  • Patent number: 6228148
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for separating solid or drop-like particles from an air flow is provided. The air flows through a separator chamber between an electrode, ion generating means or like particle charging device disposed in the separator chamber, and a grounded collector surface, so that the particles are charged by the charging device and accumulate on the collector surface. The air flows along a substantially spiral path around the charging device in at least a part of the separator chamber so that due to the action of centrifugal force at least a portion of the particles pass toward the grounded collector surface at the periphery of the chamber. A small flow of purified air flows downwardly in a central part of the separator chamber so that it washes the charging device in the separator chamber.
