  • Publication number: 20090217529
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tubular-shaped component (19) for an aeronautical fuselage made of composite materials comprising an outer skin (1) without joints having a cylindrical or cylindrical-conical shape, a plurality of stiffeners or stringers (2) longitudinally arranged in said outer skin (1) and a plurality of anchoring elements (3) for anchoring other elements to subsequently be incorporated transversally arranged between said stiffeners or stringers (2). The invention also comprises a jig (18) comprising a support body (12) and a plurality of panels (9) that can shift between an extended position (10) and a retracted position (10?) in both directions and a process for manufacturing said component (19) in the last step of which once the tubular component (19) is formed and cured, it is separated from the jig (18) by means of a longitudinal movement after the shifting of those elements of the jig (18) preventing it, and particularly the panels (9) that can be shifted.

  • Publication number: 20080283668
Abstract: The present invention provides a closed composite material structure for aircraft fuselage shaped on a male jig from which it can be separated in a certain direction, said structure comprising a single outer panel and a plurality of inner longitudinal stiffeners integrated in said panel, such that the expansion coefficient of the male jig is greater than the expansion coefficient of the composite material of the structure, thus being able to remove the already manufactured structure, formed by the panel and the integrated inner stiffeners, in a single operation. The present invention further provides a process for manufacturing such a closed structure.

  • Patent number: 6827686
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving transducer response sensitivity in an ultrasound-imaging system are disclosed. One method includes selecting a desired transmit spectrum, quantifying the transmit channel impulse response, calculating a drive signal that when applied to the transmit channel will produce the desired transmit spectrum and applying the drive signal to the transducer. The method may be applied in principle to the receive channels. An improved ultrasound-imaging system in accordance with the invention includes a transducer and a switch controlled to apply an excitation signal to the transducer in a transmit mode of the ultrasound-imaging system. A signal shaper is configured to generate an excitation signal in response to the impulse response of the transmit channel such that a desired ultrasound energy waveform is generated by the transducer. An adaptable filter responsive to a desired echo spectrum and the impulse response of the receive channel of the system may be included.

  • Publication number: 20040039282
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving transducer response sensitivity in an ultrasound-imaging system are disclosed. A preferred method generally includes the steps of: selecting a desired transmit spectrum; quantifying the transmit channel impulse response; calculating a drive signal that when applied to the transmit channel will produce the desired transmit spectrum; and applying the drive signal to the transducer. Other methods include selecting a desired echo response spectrum; quantifying a receive channel impulse response; formulating a filter that when applied to received ultrasound echo signals will produce the desired echo response spectrum; and applying the filter.

  • Patent number: 6509157
Abstract: The present invention provides reversibly blocked primers for use in the amplification of a nucleic acid sequence. Amplifications carried out using the blocked primers result in less non-specific amplification product, in particular, primer dimer, and a concomitant greater yield of the intended amplification product compared to amplifications carried out using unblocked primers.

  • Patent number: 5522960
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying a label onto a substantially cylindrical article is disclosed. A thin layer, heat activated adhesive hacked label is fed onto the surface of a rotating label transport drum so that the adhesive back faces outward from the drum. The adhesive is heated as the drum rotates so that the adhesive obtains a sufficient temperature to melt. Articles are conveyed into tangential spinning engagement with the drum and into rotative engagement with the leading edge of the label as the label moves into the article wrapping position so that the label wraps about the article and adheres thereto. The articles can include crayons which are somewhat tapered along their length. The articles are conveyed at a skewed angle so that the label wraps about the tapered crayon with end-to-end label alignment thereof.
