  • Patent number: 8986330
Abstract: An aortic cross clamp includes an elongated handle and a clamp head. The clamp head has opposing jaws having open and closed positions. At least one of the jaws is pivotally mounted to a jaw actuator so as to be pivotal relative to the opposing jaw and about an axis distanced from the opposing jaw. A locking mechanism is provided for locking the jaws in the closed position. A jaw drive mechanism is operable through the elongated handle for moving the jaws between the open and closed positions. A method of clamping the aorta is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20060121437
Abstract: An organ preservation container includes a gas impermeable housing for containing an organ. At least two liquids having different densities and forming a liquid-liquid interface are also contained in the housing. A closure for hermetically sealing the housing is provided. A structure is provided within the housing for engaging the organ and for maintaining a portion of the organ at the liquid-liquid interface such that the organ will be maintained partially in both of the liquids. A method for preserving the organ is also described.

  • Publication number: 20050142532
Abstract: A method for storing organs, cells, and tissues, includes the steps of providing a gas impermeable container; providing a preservation solution containing dissolved oxygen; placing the preservation solution into the container with the organ, cell or tissue; and hermetically closing said container. A system for storing organs, cells, and tissue includes a gas impermeable organ container for the organs, cells and tissue. A hermetically sealable solution container is provided for storing a preservation solution. The preservation solution contains dissolved oxygen. A dispensing structure is provided for placing the solution into the organ container. The preservation solution can include an oxygen-carrier solution and UW solution. The oxygen-carrier solution can be perfluorocarbon.

  • Patent number: 6149724
Abstract: A method of manufacturing cements based on calcium sulfoaluminate by forming a clinker through calcining a selection of typical cement precursor raw materials to temperatures of more than 1200.degree. C. in an industrial kiln, preferably with a preheater (typically of the cascading cyclone type) and precalciner, selected in such a manner that the clinker thus produced has a high content of calcium sulfoaluminate, tricalcium silicate and dicalcium silicate with no other calcium aluminates and, preferably during or prior to the grinding thereof, adding to the clinker thus produced (with the above recited basic components), effective amounts of calcium oxide or hydroxide and calcium sulfate, in order to activate said clinker. Upon said grinding, a temperature of about 100 to 125.degree. C.
