Abstract: Foreign material is dislodged from a hard to reach region of an object by passing a rigid elongated tubular guide in close proximity to the hard to reach region. The upper tip of the guide is bent so that it can be directed at the hard to reach region and a wire is passed through the guide into the hard to reach region. The lower portion of the wire that extends outwardly from the bottom of the guide and the wire is rotated at a speed sufficient to dislodge unwanted foreign material from the hard to reach region.

Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for flushing the residue from internal surfaces of cavities in, for example, turbine blades. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, provision is made for simultaneously flushing the internal cavities of a plurality of turbine blades, with each blade having a plurality of cavities therein.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for cleaning internal passageways within a component, such as a component to be used in an engine. The device for cleaning the internal passageway includes a first probe having a longitudinal axis and at least one nozzle oriented at an angle, preferably perpendicular, to the longitudinal axis. In a preferred embodiment, the first probe has two nozzles, both oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, and offset 180 degrees from each other. The device further includes a second probe having a longitudinal axis and a nozzle in a tip end, which nozzle is oriented along the longitudinal axis. Preferably, the first and second probes are connected to a common manifold.

Abstract: An insert 115 is removed without damage from an airfoil 45 by at least partially filling the insert with an adhesive 140 having a haft 145 embedded therein. The insert is extracted from the airfoil by gripping the haft and pulling.
