  • Publication number: 20130245396
Abstract: Mental state analysis may be performed using a wearable-camera device. Embodiments provide a glasses mounted camera or an ear-mounted device comprising a camera to collect mental state data of an individual being viewed. Information about the mental states of the individual being viewed can be fed back to the individual wearing the wearable-camera device via visual, verbal, or tonal indicators. Various emotional indicators can be provided to the wearer of the device. Analysis of the mental state data of the person being observed can be performed on the wearable-camera device, on a mobile platform, on a server, or a combination thereof. Shared and aggregated mental state information may be shared via social networking. A geographical representation of the mental state information may be rendered.

  • Publication number: 20130238394
Abstract: Analysis of mental states is performed in order to project sales. Projections may be based on effectiveness of an advertisement, a product, or a service. Effectiveness may be based on various objectives including entertainment, education, awareness, persuasion, startling, and drive to action. Data, including facial information and physiological information, is captured for an individual viewer or group of viewers. In some embodiments, demographics information is also collected and used as a criterion for rendering the mental states of the viewers in a graphical format. In some embodiments, data captured from an individual viewer or group of viewers is used to optimize sales projections.

  • Publication number: 20120243751
Abstract: Facial information is collected on a person and used to analyze affect. Facial information can be used to determine a baseline face which characterizes the default expression that a person has on their face. Deviations from this baseline face can be used to evaluate affect and further be used to infer mental states. Facial images can be automatically scored for various expressions including smiles, frowns, and squints. Image descriptors and image classifiers can be used during this baseline face analysis.

  • Publication number: 20120222058
Abstract: Analysis of mental states is provided to enable data analysis pertaining to video recommendation based on affect. Video response may be evaluated based on viewing and sampling various videos. Data is captured for viewers of a video where the data includes facial information and/or physiological data. Facial and physiological information may be gathered for a group of viewers. In some embodiments, demographics information is collected and used as a criterion for visualization of affect responses to videos. In some embodiments, data captured from an individual viewer or group of viewers is used to rank videos.

  • Publication number: 20120222057
Abstract: Analysis of mental states is provided to enable data analysis pertaining to videos. A video is embedded within a web-enabled interface which enables collecting mental state data. This web-enabled interface is then distributed and information on mental states is collected. Data is captured from viewers of the video where the data includes facial information and/or physiological data. Facial and physiological information may be gathered for a group of viewers. In some embodiments, demographics information is collected and used as a criterion for visualization of affect responses to videos.

  • Publication number: 20120135804
Abstract: Mental state data is collected as a person interacts with a game machine. Analysis is performed on this data and mental state information and affect are shared across a social network. The affect of a person can be represented to the social network or gaming community in the form of an avatar. Recommendations can be based on the affect of the person. Mental states can be analyzed by web services which may, in turn, modify the game.

  • Publication number: 20120124122
Abstract: Mental state information is collected from an individual through video capture or capture of sensor information. The sensor information can be of electrodermal activity, accelerometer readings, skin temperature, or other characteristics. The mental state information may be collected over a period of time and analyzed to determine a mood of the individual. An individual may share their mental state information across a social network. The individual may be asked to elect whether to share their mental state information before it is shared.

  • Publication number: 20120083675
Abstract: Mental state information is collected as a person interacts with a rendering such as a website or video. The mental state information is collected through video capture or capture of sensor information. The sensor information can be of electrodermal activity, accelerometer readings, skin temperature, or other characteristics. The mental state information is uploaded to a server and aggregated with other people's information so that collective mental states are associated with the rendering. The aggregated mental state information is displayed through a visual representation such as an avatar.
