  • Patent number: 5724716
Abstract: The invention provides a termination assembly adapted to retain an elongated, generally rigid member, such as a wire, to a mounting surface. A mounting surface is configured to define a receiving channel, which may include an aperture. A deformable sleeve member is configured to engage the generally rigid member to be retained and the channel in the mounting member. Cooperative deformation of the deformable sleeve and the mounting member will cause the two members to deform to engage one another, thereby securing the generally rigid member to the mounting surface.

  • Patent number: 5611249
Abstract: The improved motion-amplifying lever arrangement includes a pair of cooperating lobe members for effecting a mechanical advantage between the operating lever and an output cable during pivotal movement of the lever from an inoperative first position toward an operative second position, use being made of a spring clutch associated with the drive cam member for locking the lever in he brake-applied position, and a self-adjust device associated with the driven lobe cam member for removing cable slack when the operating lever is in the inoperative first position. In the preferred embodiment, the lobe members comprise lobe cams that are connected by a flexible strap of belt that extends between the cooperating cam surfaces and is secured at opposite ends to the cams, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5533420
Abstract: A parking brake mechanism for operating a parking brake cable includes an operating lever pivotally connected with a mounting bracket for movement between brake-applied and brake-released positions, a locking device for releasably locking the lever in the brake-applied position, and a self-adjust device for automatically removing slack from the parking brake cable when the lever is in the brake-released position, characterized in that at least one of the locking and self-adjust devices includes a spring clutch having an internal clutch spring member.

  • Patent number: 5182963
Abstract: A control mechanism of the soft release type includes a cylindrical drum about which is concentrically arranged a helical clutch spring the coil turns of which are normally contracted radially inwardly into frictional engagement with the outer periphery of the drum, characterized in that the drum is formed of powdered metal that is impregnated with damping oil. Owing to the direction of the coil turns, the drum may be rotated only in a first direction relative to the spring, and upon radial outward expansion of the spring, the viscous film of the damping oil between the outer periphery of the spring affords controlled soft-release of the drum for rotation in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 5180038
Abstract: An electronically controlled parking brake system for a vehicle including a housing connected with the vehicle chassis, a movable member adapted for connection with the parking brake cable of the vehicle, a main spring biasing the movable member toward a brake-applied position relative to the housing, an electric motor operable to displace the movable member toward a brake-released position relative to the housing, a retaining device normally retaining the movable member in the brake-released position, and a release device for releasing the retaining device, whereby the movable member is released for displacement by the main spring toward the brake-applied position. Preferably, the retaining device includes a helical clutch spring mounted concentrically on a rotatable drive screw that drives the movable member in the brake-released direction, and the release device includes a solenoid for releasing the clutch spring.
